Yellow Twist Tobacco, My First Seeds!

I ordered some yellow twist tobacco seeds today. A bit late but we have a long growing season. It is my first foray into growing tobacco. I was looking for an easy to grow and easy to cute tobacco for my first attempt. I am excited to see how it goes!

    Some New Pipe Racks.

I have quickly run out of rack space with my restorations. I found a couple new racks at my local antique shop. Not particularly old but nice racks for a good price. Both racks are oak. The first rack is very blond and likely poly coated as stain would not take. A bit of black paint and some...

Finally Cleaned up my Shop Finds.

Yeap, buffed the L out of them, lol. No, the stampings were faded enough as is. Took a light touch and avoided the stamping. Thanks for the compliments everyone! I love bringing life back to older things.

Finally Cleaned up my Shop Finds.

Dunhill Mixture 965 and Plumb Pudding have been my choices as of late. I just found out that my Grandpa smoked Sutcliffe mixture 79 so I may have to give that a try soon.

Finally Cleaned up my Shop Finds.

I posted last week of this Comoy Everyman, Barlings and Captain Browne I found at my local shop for cheap. I finally got some time to clean them up. I would not call it a full restore, just a good cleaning and fixing issues. I gave them all a good reeming and got the lava off the rim. A...

Estate Pipe Finds- soon to be restored

Hit my local shop where I recently found a Stanwell and an unmarked Lovat for cheap The seller put out a few more pipes. These looked worthy of a home restore and were all less than a cup of coffee. One is a Capt Brown Old English Favorite. Nice pipe with a nice slight curve to the stem. A...

Your Response when the Nicotine Hits

The most a pipe has given me is a bit of a light head and euphoric feeling, but I go light and usually prefer small bowls. I tried a friend Copenhagen one time though and couldn’t drive home for half and hour. That was terrible!

    Shop Find, a Stanwell and a ?

Thanks, they both seat. I was just letting them dry before pushing them in tight.

    Shop Find, a Stanwell and a ?

Stopped my a local shop, they must have just bought an estate with several “new” pipes. I found a Kaywoodie for a buddy. In another case I noticed a Dublin style pipe with an S and a crown! $5 so I was pretty excited . I also got a nice $5 Lovat with the same shell briar finish but all it...

$2 Pipe Lot, 1866 Patent Date.

So the original stem was still in the jar, its the wood! The wood is old and is sized to fit the pipe, makes sense as the talered ends are well tarred. The end caps are very old cow horn and are threaded for a mouthpiece that is missing. Glad I did not toss them! I figured they were for the...

$2 Pipe Lot, 1866 Patent Date.

Stem is definitely a replacement and post dates the pipe by a bit. My research is indicating the stem should have been cane or more likely hand carved wood, maybe with a horn tip. Its sure held up! I think this one will go into the display and not really become a user. I thought it was...

$2 Pipe Lot, 1866 Patent Date.

I should have taken more before pictures, but here they are when I found them. The pipe was pretty tarred up. You could not even read the collar.

$2 Pipe Lot, 1866 Patent Date.

I found a jar of pipe parts at a junk shop for $2. Most are junk but I saw one that just looked older to me, and another I think is salvageable. All the bowls and stems were loose so I am assuming I have them matched right, as they would not fit any other way. Could be original stems, could be...

I May Be A Lovat Pipe Convert

My limited knowledge and research I think they are Parker seconds? The black pipe stem is obviously vulcanite. I will have to look at the other stem closer. Not much info but seems Parker pipes with the vulcanite stems are a bit older.

I May Be A Lovat Pipe Convert

I got my pipes today, they are beautiful! Unsmoked and really eye catching. The little shell briar/black pipe has an inner tube system in it. Its unmarked except for in London England. Onviously a basket pope but be fun to find a maker and approximate age. The other pipe has a normal stem...

    Rum Blend Recommendations

Very possible. I am working hard to take my pipe to the next level. I have been watching a bunch of muttonchoppipers videos on the breath method and sipping the tobacco, but have a ways to go. My grandparents smoked cigarettes but not pipe, and stopped before I was born. I love old ways...

    Rum Blend Recommendations

I am looking for a good rum/molasses/navy style tobacco to try. I got a can of C&D Black Frigate as the reviews said it was very good, rum and molasses hints. I get a nasty copenhagen tin note and am undecided if I would buy it again (doubt I would). I find it a bit bitter and spicy and not...
