Yes, I heard that Molto is like the top aro ever. But is there any other with strong non-artificial toppings? What about Amphora Full? Anything stronger than MacBaren Vanilla would do for me.
And what about something akin to Black Frigate? Like, strong taste but not simply pure tobacco flavours.

Hey there. I don't know if any of you remember me - just know that I was THE absolute noob 3 years ago. Then I gradually lost my interest in pipe smoking, and went back, gradually, to nearly smoking only cigarettes (kreteks) ; but that aside...
Just one more small tip. Removing the clove heads to use as the most precious part of it is something I find to be a good idea. It is from these "heads" that the crackling sound ("crec, crec"... hence Kretek... true story) that we kretek-lovers all find irresistible to hear, and it makes for...
@bluegrassbrian , you are right in that the recipe is complicated, if one is to follow through all the ingredients. However it was meant to be a general guide, as in [tobacco(one or many)]+[spirits of your choice]+[clove]+[spices of your choice].
Of course you can choose and play with the...
Hey, if you do try your hand on your version of this recipe, please let me know how it went... You can post here in this thread or send me a PM.
I'm all about trying to create a kretek simulation that comes close to the level of tastiness of the Gudang Garam because, man... that's the best...
P.S.: About the scotch and the Madeira liquor (not the wine):
The scotch, and actually any kind of whisky (I just don't like that straight Jack Daniels type of bourbon in this recipe... honey bourbon might be interesting to try, though) was already on the recipe I had found last year. Mind you...
Well, I adapted the recipe from a blog of a guy who tried to emulate Indonesian cigs and tobacco overall.
Neither I nor anyone has the slightest idea about the actual process of the making of a Gudang Garam (or Sampoerna, or Djarum, any of those for that matter) because the recipe is kept...
Forgot to mention that my girflriend has asthma and was the main reason for me to quit cigarettes for good and come back to the pipe forum (which I smoke way less compulsively). My love for her is making me do good things.

OK, so I was basically out of the pipe smoking world for around 1 year.
And the one thing which made me stop paying attention to pipesmoking was... Kretek. If you're not familiar with the word, they are those Indonesian clove cigarettes...
What I refer to is the Armellini Suprema which I talked about 2 months ago.
I took a pause in pipesmoking because my good-tasting tobaccos ended.
I ordered this pipe at March 10, and it only arrived a couple of days ago (April 23). Some days of anxious expectations... You know, the customhouses...
Thanks guys! It seemed something nasty indeed.
At least this other rope seems to be mould-free and is smelling a lot better! Seems to be "aging" (if you can call this aging) well.
I wonder what happened to make the other one full of mould, while "saving" this one which was stored at the same...
I picked up this piece of rope tobacco after 3 weeks "cellaring" it in a dark place (though not vacuum-sealed), and look at what happened...
What could this be?
Each jar is $5.00-7.50 around here, so, even if it's best to jar them, I can't afford it... Unfortunately.
I store pouch/rope/bulk tobacco in Ziplock plastic containers.
Yes... I always dried it a lot, I mean, all of them.
I guess I'll try them straight from the tin/pouch before thinking about drying, from now on.
If it's too moist, I'll dry the tobacco, but not so much.
