Pretty much the title. The pipe was unfortunately not just dip stained but dip varnished which was a bit of a headache to sand off-- perhaps thats a clue to the date? No number as per the thread title Just reads: Kaywoodie Super Grain Imported Briar My guess is 80's but if anyone knows I'd...

Identification Help: Fancy Cursive "Stamp": "Pfeifen Lob.. Lab?"

Atleast that is what I assume, I could be dead wrong so don't let me mislead you, but I believe it's a German 9mm pipe, the clues to me are "Pf" which could only in my mind be pfeifen , the German for "pipes", and the *gigantic* compound word below. Anyone here have insights? Cheers~

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob Been cooking since I was a kid, and making ice cream for a little over a decade now because I saw an ice cream maker on sale online for about 20 bucks and thought, why not? I was a little cautious with the purchase, because all too often we...

Question About My Jeantet Estate And Potentially Removing The Stinger

Got a new pipe from ebay for 8 smackers, and I'm cleaning it up(Strong Lakeland ghost of course, the world would implode if I would for once get a pipe on ebay that didn't reek of Dove soap). Not sure if you can see, but the stinger is unlike most jeantet stingers I see, and the pipe itself is...

Dear Experienced Smokers Who Smoke Fast

This is a bit of a different question that the usual "What are some good, well engineered pipes to buy" because it's slightly more specific: For those of you who have been smoking for years now, and have what could be called a fast cadence, do you find that a well made pipe can make up for the...

    Samuel Gawith - Hansom Flake

Has anyone managed to get their hands on a tin already? Seems to be a VaPer flake, with "a special lakeland essence" but that could be anything. If anyone out there has had it please let us know what you suspect the topping could be. :sher:

Show Us Your De-Facto, *Best* Smoker

Aesthetics and comfort completely aside, and going strictly with smoking mechanics, if you had to pick one pipe as your best performer, what would it be?

Which Tobacco Has The Best *Burning* Characteristics?

Taste and preference aside, what that you've encountered burns straight down to ash? I ask because I've encountered such a tobacco these past few days: 4th Generation 1931 Flake. It burns like a cigarette, just straight down like magic. Tastes good too, which is a plus.

Suppose Your Pipe Is Unevenly Lit...

You do a charring light, and then properly light the pipe. But suddenly you notice that only 50% of the top layer of tobacco is lit. Do you keep smoking? Do you wait for the pipe to go out? I run into this a lot and what'll happen is the cherry will burn straight downward and I'll only be able...

What Would You Do With a Pipe That Smokes Very Hot and Wet? (GBD)

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob So I have this GBD I picked up from Tim West's Ebay corner which was a recovered bowl that got a silver band and replacement stem put on because apparently no one else wanted it, and I've been trying to get it into smoking shape but it's...

    I'm Stunned Right Now

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob A quick bit of context for my story, I've only been back to pipe smoking for a few months now. Started right after high school, had lots of fun trying a bunch of tobaccos and rolling the dice on ebay estates, mostly lower grade pipes since...
