My favorite pipe forums have significant international membership. It makes the forums more interesting. I hope it doesn’t change.

    What pipe is this

Otherwise known as an Italian basket pipe. Because there might be a pile of them in a basket at the shop. You fish through for one you like and pay a pittance . Finishing and shaping on the stummel and stem are often quick and dirty. They didn’t waste any extra time on them at the factories...

    Hallmark Help

Maybe the army mount silver isn’t sterling? Like maybe coin silver. It does have a different luster from the sterling stuff.

    Hallmark Help

There’s a period where Petersons are not hallmarked. 50s and most of the 60s I think.

Glue? Epoxy? Which to use for this?

Regular glue can soften when it’s heated. A small amount of epoxy will do the trick.

    Hallmark Help

Can’t date the Army mounts. I have one I know is from the 70s. Can’t tell at all by looking at it. I’ve never had an explanation why that is.

    Hallmark Help

    Nosferatu

Google shows some pics where Willem’s hand covers most of the bowl. Looks like a Tyrolean or Hunter pipe of some sort.

    Show Off Your WDC Pipes

I have a good number of older WDC pipes. Here’s a few. My Wellington is marked French Briar and has a tall rounded nickel cap. Probably pre 1920. A WDC French Briar Bakelite bulldog with the Lockmount tenon. Probably late 19teens. And a WDC meerschaum bulldog. Judging by the band...

    Is this a real Kaywoodie?

A little water and ash on the inside, a drop of clear super glue on the outside. Good to go.

    Is this a real Kaywoodie?

Looks like a later 20th century pipe. Like a Saxon or something similar.

    The Best 'No-Bite' Pipe Tobacco?

C&D blends work pretty well for me. I smoke Old Joe Krantz original 3 times a day for weeks at a time. I also take supplemental vitamin C and it seems to help minimize irritation.

Meerschaum and amber rebuild - carving replacement amber, glueing amber, swapping out the tenon, & repairing the case!

That’s a really nice job. Thanks for the tip on case cleaning. I have some that need that and wasn’t sure I wouldn’t just disintegrate the plush.

    Savinelli Bings Favorite

I’ll offer the alternative opinion. First, the version I had was attractively rusticated with a nice slightly bent Cumberland stem. It was the first Bing I owned. The bowl was a larger billiard size. I found the bite area and button to be thin. I spend most of my smoking time with the pipe...

    Favorite bulldog models

I like the classic shape. I have a pretty good number with the classic bowl and a variety of bands and stems. Meerschaums too. Like this CPF French Briar.

    Antique Loewe’s logo question

I’ll add a pic of the pipe in its case because it’s interesting too.

    Antique Loewe’s logo question

Yep, very similar. Right down to the shank cap and stem shape. I like 1895. Thanks for the help.

    Antique Loewe’s logo question

I’ve had this pipe a couple years. It came in a two pipe case with short horn and two long rubber stems. Bits are narrow with the wide lozenge shaped openings. The straight pipe is long gone. The silver hallmarks are very rubbed out and, I thought, indecipherable. I took a close photo and...
