    Seeking Information On A Peterson

I have a pre-republic Peterson for which I have been unable to find info as to date ranges of its manufacture. It is stamped Peterson, Dublin 3. Has a broad silver band with no hallmarks stamped K&P. Anybody have any clue as to dates of manufacture? Thanks.

    Question About Irish Whiskey

With my handle you'd think I'd drank Irish whiskey at some point in my 65 years, but I hadn't before tonight. I used to be a scotch drinker when it came to whisky, though the only time I drank it in the last 5+ years were rare occasions in restaurants. However, tonight, while celebrating our...

    Interesting Spotify Discovery

For those unfamiliar, Spotify is an online music streaming service which is my favorite due to its site features and music content. However, their app stopped working for me recently no matter what I tried. In researching the issue online discovered Spotify's suggestion to simply use their web...

    Most Attractive Factory Bent Bulldog

I don't own one. It's like a siren call that's hard for me to resist, yet I must. My vote goes to the Peterson squire/XL15. What's your vote?

    Peterson POTY for 2019

So, just saw a post on the Peterson Facebook page that the Peterson pipe of the year for 2019 will be a "John Bull," a chubby Rhodesian. Am not in the market for another pipe but do love my chubby Pete Rhodesian.

    Great Deals at Pipe Divan

Have wanted a 2015 Peterson Founder's Edition pipe for some time, the Hungarian shape. So, just bought one at Pipe Divan as a late 65th birthday and early retirement gift. The birthday was last week and the retirement is in 1 month. Was only $145 and change with the ex-Vat price plus free whipping.

    LNF vs LBF

Haven't bought any LNF in some years but am trying to decide between LNF and LBF for my next purchase. Seems as I recall that LNF's perique tasted milder than the perique content of LBF I bought recently. Might just stick with the latter if it is heavier in perique. For those who have smoked...

A Different Sort of Stem Too Tight?

1 of my long-time favorite pipes which I've owned and smoked regularly for at least 20 years has suddenly developed a stem too tight problem. Took an hour in the freezer to get to the point I could with much effort wrest the stem into proper position. Now I'm afraid I'll continue to have this...

    Klondike Gold

Just popped that tin of 4 1/2 year-old Klondike Gold Virginia flake I got from Ashdigger. Never had it before and it is wonderful stuff. Slightly sweet and earthy with a deep, rich flavor. Liked it better than FVF and Best Brown flake. Reminded me of why I tend to like flake cuts better as they...

    Sticky Toffee Pudding

Being on the cusp of Hogmanay, figured it was a good time to try sticky toffee pudding for the first time. So, we whipped up a batch. The toffee sauce definitely makes it and we tweaked ours with rum extract. Not bad, though I'd take a good chocolate cake over that any time despite all its rave...

    Sipping Versus Puffing

There are some things about pipe smoking where my experiences seem to run counter to the common view. This whole sipping vs puffing a pipe thing is 1 of them. While my puffing isn't significantly stronger than sipping a smoke, I do find that the extra volume of smoke puffing a bit creates makes...

    The End Is Nigh

No, this isn't about any form of apocalypse. But, yesterday made the decision I will retire the end of April. Am thoroughly jazzed about this, though it does come with some trepidation about whether the funds will be adequate. I have no special post-retirement plans except to simply relax, have...

    Favorite Peterson Danglers

What would your favorite Peterson pipes with a 3/4 bend or greater be? For me it's my favorite Peterson shape, the XL23 followed by the XL17.

    Highland Targe, (Highalnd Angry Woman)

I dabble in picking up Ulster Scot words owing to my ancestry and ran across targe which in Ulster Scot means angry woman. So, does this mean Rattray's Highland Targe actually mean Highland angry woman?

Pipes You Only Want 1 Of

Do you have some pipes you bought just to have a representational example in your collection and don't plan to buy more? For me that was 3: a churchwarden, a pipe with bamboo shank extension, and a meer. Though, as for the meer, if I could afford a large finely carved figural meer, I'd be...

    Favorite Shapes Or Favorite Pipes

If asked I wouldn't say the bent billiard is my favorite shape. Yet I recently realized it is the most common shape in my collection. Got to thinking that maybe I don't really have a favorite shape. Thought I did but when I think about the pipes I own, generally I've bought them due to multiple...

    Question for Peterson Killarney owners

After the last pipe I bought, said I wasn't going to buy anymore. However, now my wife is talking about us exchanging X-mas gifts this year-we only occasionally do that owing to putting most of or X-mas $ toward adult kids and grandkids every year. So, now am thinking about a Peterson shape that...

    Question About Bullmooses, (Bullmeece?)

I have but 1, a 1970's Peterson Dublin and London. The chubby Rhodesian is 1 of my favorite shapes but am about ready to relegate mine to the back racks simply because it has an incredibly shallow bowl. I can get about 30 seconds of smoking out of it before I have to re-fill. So, is it common...

    C&D Red Odessa

Odessa's sibling. Odessa is burley, oriental, latakia, and perique. Red Odessa is red Virignia instead of burley. Had been an Odessa smoker but since discovering Red Odessa, it has become my favorite blend, Like Odessa it is a balanced blend and it is sublime. I say this as someone who has not...
