    Help identifying a pipe maker

I know it would probably help if I attached a photo, but that's beyond my abilities. :D I'd recently re-discovered a couple of pipes I'd relegated to a drawer umpteen years ago, sort of forgetting about them and resumed using them. 1 is a billiard-esque pipe I'd bought from a B&M decades ago. It...

Smoked a cob for the first time today

My son brought me back a corn cob pipe from a trip he took as a kid many years ago-my kid's 41 now. :D Never smoked it til now nor tried a cob before, but fired it up with ODF. Discovered that the tobacco flavor came through more clearly and with a naturally slight sweet flavor than it does in a...

    Preben Holm Ben Wades

Rummaging around in a drawer I re-discovered a very large Danish Ben Wade freehand bowl I bought near on to 30 years ago in a second-hand store. Going to have to get another stem and put it to use again. were all BW freehands from the 70's or so Preben Holm?

Difference between a chubby billiard and an apple?

Just saw an advert for a pipe that smoking pipes referred to as an apple. However, the bowl closely resembled the shape of a number of mine which I've seen referred to as billiards-but on the chubby side. So, got me to wondering what the dividing line is between a chubby billiard and an apple? Earl

    Who made IRC pipes?

I bought an Irwin Ries Co supreme bulldog off the Bay a # of years ago. It had great birdseye which unfortunately I can no longer see due to the darkening of the pipe over the years. Who made IRC pipes back in the day? thanks, Earl

What are you smoking British style-November

Noticed that recent thread discussing the merits of a what are you smoking thread. That said, here's the next edition. :P This am had my post-breakfast smoke of ODF in a Peterson straight, smooth, Shamrock squat tomato while listening to the light classical station of my Direct TV. There's...

    C&D Byzantium-opinions?

As I only smoke 2 blends @ a time for long periods, eventually get the hankering to vary 1 of them. Rather than reorder C&D Odessa, am considering C&D Byzantium which I have never tried. Does have fine reviews on TR. But for those of you who have tried it, what is your opinion?

    How international is your collection?

As appropriate to my screen name, most representative in my collection are Irish pipes. But have an international flare with most of the non-Irish bought before I settled into a niche. How does your collection look? Mine are: 15 Irish 9 Danish 7 Italian 5 English 3 French and a smattering...

C&D Odessa: Oriental or Balkan blend?

It's 1 of my constant blends. But for those of you who have smoked it, would you consider this an Oriental blend or a Balkan? Seems like the latakia in it is at condimental levels suggesting it is more of an Oriental blend. For that matter, how much latakia would need to be in an Oriental blend...

    Oldest Pipe You Smoke

Not part of my regular rotation but I like to occasionally pull out my 1900 Salmon and Gluckstein straight bulldog with a nice wide silver band and bone stem. So, do you have any senior pipe moments?

What Are You Smoking British Style? (September)

Know there's a general what are you smoking thread but thought I'd start 1 specific to Brit-type pipes. I don't know how to post pics, so I won't be doing that. But, like seeing pics others do post. As for this day, earlier had some C&D Odessa in a Peterson 11s.

Never had a problem with a Peterson pipe

Noticed quite a bit of Pete bashing here as re quality control. So, just thought I'd start a thread for sharing positive experiences just to balance things out a bit. I've bought 15 Peterson pipes, lower grade, higher grade, bought new, bought used, none older than late 80's and have never had a...
