    Show Us Your French Pipes

Picked up four new Ropps and a new Genod. Five new french pipes means five stingers into the bin! Now I just need to decide which blends to assign to them..

    Pay it forward giveaway

If you were in Europe I'd take you up on this generous offer 😎 Surely a new pipe smoker in the US will take this. It'd be a nice "intro to Latakia" starter pack!

Hello lads, I have here for trade: 1x Rattrays Highland Targe 100g (sealed tin) 1x Rattrays Jock's Mixture 100g (sealed tin) 1x Rattrays Red Lion 50g (sealed tin) >90g Sillem's Black (sealed in mason jar) Ideally I'd like to trade for Latakia blends but will consider anything but...

***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

Enjoy the rally! My wife and children were just at the steam rally down in Cornwall, actually. It looked brilliant.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

I didn't realize they re-released these. Looks like something new for the Dogs on Tin Art thread.

Has anyone tried these "Pipe Republic" blends from Germany?

I'll have to post a review once I've had some experience with them. "Isle of Thanet" has some positive, if not limited, reviews. TB say the concept was an old school, "pure" English blend: 40% Latakia, 40% orientals, 20% Virginia and nothing else.

Has anyone tried these "Pipe Republic" blends from Germany?

Unfortunately i'm not sure as I am in Europe. I did listen to an interview from a couple of years ago where Christian Probst from Tabac Benden mentioned that they don't ship to the US but that may very well have changed. The interview was good, by the way!

Has anyone tried these "Pipe Republic" blends from Germany?

Wondering if anyone has tried any of the "Pipe Republic" blends which you can get from Cigar World in Germany? I believe that most are made by Dan Tobacco (except for "Isle of Thanet" which is made by K&K.) They also all seem to be named after places in Kent, in the South East of England. The...

How do you find HU English Breakfast? Are there any other blends you can compare it to?

    Sweetest English Blend?

If you don't like aromatics, i'd actually suggest avoiding Sillem's Black, unless you don't mind potentially ending up with 100g of an aromatic you don't want to smoke. i'm disappointed by SB as it's not what I was hoping it was. It shares the characteristics of aromatics that might me not enjoy...

    Sweetest English Blend?

The only one of those that i have open is Sillem's Black. As much as this gets labelled as a crossover blend, to me, this is an aromatic. So, to my taste, that comes with the usual "sweet yet hollow" quality that all aromatics have. This is the best way I can explain aromatics. They taste to me...

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Ashton Artisan's blend. I'm glad I didn't pass this one up as a Nightcap clone. The tin note was identical to Nightcap to me but the flavour is rather different. Smoother, less intense and with some licks of sweetness that Nightcap doesn't have. I certainly prefer this and will be cellaring.

Which Are the Most Incenselike Blends? ⚗️⛪🪔🥢💭

It could be helpful to mention that I have seen HU's Asmara described as being similar to Durbar (though I have never tried either).

    More about Latakia...

I have CG myself but have only tried one bowl so far. Note that it has no orientals so it could be helpful in isolating the flavour of latakia (seeing as latakia is more commonly found in the presence of orientals).

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

HU Tuarekh. From the charring light I knew this was a winner. Thanks to @Sigmund for his recommendations on this one. I will need to partake in more than the small taster bowl I had to begin pulling out all the nuances but I can say this one was actually much gentler and smoother than I expected...
