Old Ronson pipe lighter - any info?

Thanks for the heads up. I can see some corrosion on the outside so I'm just going to skip it and get a new lighter instead.

Possible Relaxation of Cross Border EU Tobacco Standards

So, if I'm understanding correctly, those travelling into the EU from a non EU state will be able to bring up to 1kg rather than the current 250g? Excellent news, we'll have to go visit the in-laws more often 😇

Old Ronson pipe lighter - any info?

I have the opportunity to buy one of these old style Ronson pipe lighters with the wheel on the side for about 30 euro. I'm having trouble finding info online. What type of fuel do these use? Are the right flints still available to purchase? Has anyone had luck restoring these? I'm trying to...

    What are You Reading Now?

Reading some M. R. James stories. I was skeptical of these editions at first but I have to say that they surprised me. Cloth bound, ribbon marker, nice endpapers and the size is very comfortable in the hand.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I've never smoked any McClellands but all of the tin designs really appeal to me. That company seems to really have had a great art direction.

Did it come with the tin art sticker?

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Popped this Jannemann Flake but haven't smoked any yet. Comes in one long flake, coiled up in your paint tin.

    Large European Metal Tins Re-sealability?

I recall hearing somewhere that these 100 gram size tins with the metal caps will keep tobacco good indefinitely, even once already opened. In other words, there's no need to jar it up, you can just store in these tins. Does anyone have any experience with this? It'd be great if it were true.

    Pipe Sighting at the Movies

Hutch from Rosemary's Baby smokes a straight billiard on a few occasions and carries a leather baccy pouch. He also bears a resemblance to C.S. Lewis, in my opinion.

    Your Own "Worst" Tobacco

Thanks Mister Badger, I'll designate this as my "weeping and clenching" blend and see how I fair! I too have tried smoking it in many different ways and have been bitten by it only after chugging it at an obscene pace. Certainly a fine idea, I'll leave the lid off the tin for a day or so and...

    Your Own "Worst" Tobacco

I know this is a beloved blend but I just really dislike MacBaren Plumcake. This may very well be my boorish and inexperienced palate but I get practically no flavour from this blend. Just warm air with a very faint dusty taste. Is this was "danish aromatics" are like? Can someone please let me...

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Just opened this Dreams of Kadath. Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that tin note! Very interesting smoke and has reminded me just how new I am at this hobby and how many flavours there still are for me to uncover.

Great to hear, I think I'm encouraged to finally pick this up and read it through. I'll add it to my "reading next" pile.

    Old Joe Krantz first impressions

What was it that you didn't like about OJK? I've heard HB spoken of as being fairly similar though perhaps not quite as bold in flavour.

    What are You Reading Now?

I've had the Vintage edition on my bookshelf for a few years since I found it in a charity shop. Accounts of how depressing it is have likely contributed to me not having read it yet. I tend to have to be in a particular mood to read "downers".
