    Ser Jacopo Delecta

I have several SJ. Their engineering is amazing and their artistry is stunning. Beautiful shapes, rustication, drilling ! Some of best quality control on any pipe.

    Ser Jacopo Delecta

I’m curious about Ser Jacopo Delecta pipes. Is it mostly an aesthetic feature or does the mount have other benefits ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m eying one and wondering whether the extra cost is worth it.

    Pipe You Didn’t Like—Becomes Favorite!

I’m curious if anyone else has bought a pipe that at first you weren’t that crazy about, then (maybe years later) you fall in love with it. It happened to me with this small, very modest Savinelli Dublin. It just turned out to be great especially with some Christmas Cheer.

    Show us your Ugliest Pipes!

I made one just like that … in the toilet, this morning, … after eating a bran muffin. Ha ha.

Potential McClelland Christmas Cheer Rival? Perhaps!

I I was actually using it as an estate tin review thread. Probably not the right one. And probably nobody needs a review of discontinued tobacco. My bad.

Potential McClelland Christmas Cheer Rival? Perhaps!

So let’s close this thread ?!

Potential McClelland Christmas Cheer Rival? Perhaps!

I’ve come to see the brilliance as well as limits of Christmas Cheer. Some smokes are transcendent; some just good. Pipe and vintage and how stored affect it all. It’s not the “be all, end all,” but it is great stuff. After a while you get acclimated and it’s not as mind-blowing. It’s like I...

Potential McClelland Christmas Cheer Rival? Perhaps!

Very interesting adventure working my way through CC 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006. Smoking 2002 now and not as good as 2003. 2003 blew my mind, but who knows how much of this has to do with how these unopened tins were stored. In what environment. It’s interesting because the newest one has retained...

    Softy-bits Alternative

The ones I got at smokingpipes are fine. I just don’t like them with my large artisan pipes. For my small unfinished Savinellis they are fine ! I’m not big on clenching regularly anyway. Not good for jaw. I don’t detect any rubber taste.

What would be your 2022 Holiday Blend?

Anyone ever try mixing McClelland red Virginias like Christmas Cheer with blend like Quiet Nights or Chelsea Morning ???

Potential McClelland Christmas Cheer Rival? Perhaps!

I agree. But there is something admirable about the aging process that both McClelland and apparently Esoterica (used to ?) did/do. I don’t understand why such aging and “sweating” of tobacco leaves in open air environments (barns) should be such an unusual thing. I DON’T understand why only...

Potential McClelland Christmas Cheer Rival? Perhaps!

I recently purchased 5 tins Christmas Cheer. The first was 2003; the tin was NOT bulging and it taste absolutely amazing. The next 4 were from the same seller and all were bulging. I’ve opened them all. The bulging tins are still acclimating, but none have yet compared to the original 2003. I...

My Only Tin of McClelland Virginia, 11 Years Old.

Smoking Christmas Cheer 2006 now. Doesn’t compare to 2003. Much more mellow, but not as flavorful. We’ll see. Also have 2001 and 2002 lined up.

    Chamber Diameter

    Even for flakes ?

    Chamber Diameter

Do you mean outer or inner diameter ?

My Only Tin of McClelland Virginia, 11 Years Old.

I recently purchased 4 tins of McClelland Christmas Cheer: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006. I’m working my way through sampling them and comparing. So far 2003 rules. So I’m curious, since McClelland straight VA’s share the house profile and similar processing : how much of a difference will I notice...

    Chamber Diameter

With .75-.80 diameter, do you think it matters what the chamber depth is ? For instance, how about only filling bowl halfway or three quarters ? Do you think that affects the smoke properties ?
