Per Jensen with New Blends on Radio Show of August 26, 2025

What a fun show and history lesson. Can't wait to give these a try when they come out next week.

    Looking for Non-Aromatic Recommendations:

Time to add to the soon-to-be massive list. Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Navy Flake: A popular, easy-to-find Virginia flake that offers a natural sweetness. Escudo Navy De Luxe: A legendary Va/Per that is often recommended as a benchmark for this blend type. Cornell & Diehl's Bayou Morning: For...

Vinegar Smell & Taste Overpowering Blend???

After a deep dive on the internet, I learned that blenders will add vinegar to balance the PH of the tobacco to get it as close to 7 as they can. I am guessing that they must have applied the vinegar and then bagged it up, as it was super wet. I keep opening the jar and letting it air out a bit...

What's Everyone's Opinion of the New Peterson Cobble Pipes?

I like the look of it over the rusticated, and in some models, it looks pretty sweet, but is it something that I have to have right now? No, I am not going to run out and order one right away. Maybe if I find one down the road?

Pipe Maker Nate King Back from France and Columbus Talks on Radio Show of Aug 19, 2025

I appreciate you having special news correspondent Nate King on the show to report on the St Claude pipe show. Now, get to work Nate, so I can check out your pipes in October. It sounds like a wonderful area to visit and a fun pipe show if I ever make it to France. I have to make it to Vegas first!

Vinegar Smell & Taste Overpowering Blend???

I got a sample of the Country Squire "Squire's Secret #55-1" blend, and I know that Virginias, when aging, will pick up some vinegar smells or tastes as a normal part of the process. This was closer to dying easter eggs level of vinegar and dominated the flavor when I smoked a bowl. Since then...

Jamie Connelly and Matt McCulloch from the Milwaukee Pipe Club on Radio Show of Aug 12, 2025

I have way too many hobbies to keep me distracted from pipe smoking and suck up my money, like kids, fly fishing, whitewater rafting, skiing, and playing cribbage. Loved the Milwaukee guys and hearing about their pipe club. Sounds like a southern version of "Strange Brew" with the McKenzie brothers.

Dustin Patterson and AI vs. Brian on Radio Show of August 5, 2025

I am always using AI for my teaching and working on projects to save me time at the college, but I hadn't ever thought about it for picking pipe tobacco. Of course, I had to try it out immediately on a couple of different large language models, and when I put in flavor profiles or requirements...

    Timber And Smoke Magazine

I think mine will show up 2 hrs after I leave on Friday for a family reunion. Something to look forward to on Monday!

Pipe Maker Jamie Marcey on Radio Show of July 29, 2025

Good description of the C&D blend and how you might kick it up a notch. I think you may have been thinking about blending too much after your last interview and heading down a dark path. ;) Jamie, on the other hand, is heading off in the right direction with his pipe making, and I wish him the best.

Micro-Blender Anthony James on Radio Show of July 22, 2025

I am going to stay as far away as I can from tobacco blending, as that sounds like a rabbit hole and a half. Fun hobby for sure, and sounds like Anthony is thoroughly enjoying it. Great episode!

    Skippy's Blend of the Week

I think you are right on track to switch gears and pick something enjoyable for the season, or at least as much as you can in the 90F/90% weather. This is supposed to be enjoyable, relaxing, and fun. I suggest pulling out 3 summer options and letting somebody else pick the blend you dive into...

    Whiskey with pipes

Weird that you say this, as I almost always have an alcoholic drink with a cigar, but often go to water, seltzer, or coffee with a pipe. I will have a good bourbon, whiskey, or rum with dark blends, but it is the exception rather than the norm. Feel like I need to explore this a bit more and try...

Indiana Pipe Club Member Kirk Keener on Radio Show of July 8, 2025

Captain Kirk was a real joy to listen to, and how the pipe club got started in Indiana. They are doing it right by supporting local B&M, keeping a pipe show manageable, and a lot of fun. Haunted Bookshop is one that I really enjoy because of the amount of burley, but I appreciate the advice on...

Have you ever heard of a chainsaw? :D

Pipe Maker Paul Greenwood on Radio Show of July 1, 2025

Thanks for continuing to bring pipe makers like Paul and son to the rest of us. Sounds like he has "retirement" figured out for a little while and looking forward to seeing him at the next pipe show!

    Gone Fishing

I enjoy most any type of fishing, and chasing bluegills and bass in the pond is a ton of fun. I moved into the mountains about 8 yrs ago, so river fishing and trout have become the go-to with my pipe. Nothing better than a pole and a good smoak.
