Is there a 10mm filter? - Mastro De Paja Special Pesaro Gigante

Thanks for the advice. It just threw me, as it was substantially larger hole than any other 9mm stem I currently have. Thought I was missing something. ;) I will give it a smoke and see how it does.

Is there a 10mm filter? - Mastro De Paja Special Pesaro Gigante

I recently bought an estate Mastro De Paja Special Pesaro Gigante pipe and it is built for a filter, but when I tossed in my Obetis 9mm filter, there is a gap and it slides around. Not a huge gap, but it appears to be a 10mm hole. I haven't ever seen anything like this and not finding much...

    I Started With Matches

Glad to know I am not the only one on this journey of hopping around between lighting options. I have found a number of economical butane pipe lighters with built-in tools that have been the best for a minimalist approach and reliability. That being said, I watch Malcolm Guite on YouTube, and he...

    Pipe Smoking and Makin' Babies

The only advice is to use an aromatic when you are up changing diapers and feeding in the middle of the night as Balkan blends wind them up too much. Good luck with you and the Mrs.!

Book Author Ben Rapaport on Radio Show of December 17, 2024

What a fun interview, and I'm going to have to look into some of his books, if I can find them. It is definitely well researched and I will get my dictionary out. ;)

    The Smoking Shed

I live in CO and have done the ice fishing shelter for cigars and pipes. Your electric heater will work well with a little ventilation. I put a small personal fan up to the vent area and it kept things pretty clear in the tent. Well, I am still alive and that is the only proof I have. A small...

Would you keep an ugly pipe that smokes really well?

You can always get out your bedazzler and add a bit of flare to an ugly pipe or let your kids dive into their sticker pile and glitter. I agree with the advice that a good smoking pipe with a bad haircut is worth keeping around, but a looker might need to go to the shop to get an upgrade.

    Cold Weather to Quicker Burning?

I just got back from a walk in the 20s F with snow cover, and know that I tend to kick up my puffing without knowing it, so I make a little more conscious effort and find my rhythm for the winter. I also only smoke walking downhill or I look like a train engine. You should probably put the flip...

    What Defines a Codger?

I never dived into Cogerdom so deep. I am not a Coger yet, as I only yell at the bears to get off my lawn and I smoke way too many different tobaccos over the year. All thought I don't try to jump out of my lawn chair and my hair is getting grayer by the day.

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

I am trying to decide what I would really miss from Sutliff and some of these posts have helped me to identify a few things I might need to add. They really do have a massive catalog and could probably do with some thinning, but then I think about all the boutiques that use them for supply...

    Pipe cleaners for Irish Peterson?

I have a bunch of Petersons and use Zen bristle and Decatur pipe cleaners. All the advice you have gotten is solid and a few new tricks for me. I did have one P-lip that had a wonky hole, and I ended up using a small drill bit to make it a round hole and removed some extra material. Now it...

    Tombigbee by the Country Squire

I agree that the Tombigbee/Old Toby is a great smooth smoke with pleasant room notes that keep your neighbors happy but it did lead to me buying a lot of other blends from the Country Squire. For that I might not be as happy with it, as my shelves seemed to fill up faster than I wanted. ;)

Breaking in an Uncoated New Pipe

You need to buy a couple of sandbags and some snow tires for her. ;)

Preventing Mold in 5 lb Bulk Storage? Chemistry?

I store my cigars in Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Containers, which are food-grade and have an excellent seal. I added a Boveda humidification pack to the container and have had some in storage for 3-4 years while retaining proper humidity. They have a 16-cup pantry size that might work...

Enjoying my Peterson Pub Pipe with some Early Morning Pipe in a sunny spot on the veranda this morning with my dog Butter.

    Tongue Bite on First/Char Light

I pulled out some of my wettest and stickiest tobacco and a lighter pack made a big difference. Thanks!

    Your Own "Worst" Tobacco

They quit making Hobbit's Weed in Colorado and I always wanted to try it. When it resurfaced, I bought 4 ounces and wanted to like it but it was way too fake cherry and light. It got donated to a friend of mine who has made a good home for it.

Jazz Pianist Warren Ertle on Radio Show of November 5, 2024

Just finished this episode and it reminded me a lot of of my Jazz class in college. One of the toughest courses I ever took with all the styles, artists, and songs/albums we learned about but so much fun.

    2025 Pipe Show Dates

I need a new schedule next year as I keep having conflicts with this fun. Thanks for all the dates and info!

    Tongue Bite on First/Char Light

I have really enjoyed all the ideas here, as I am an aggressive smoker that is trying to consistently slow down and sip my smoke. The other issue I run into is that my tobacco is often too wet and needs to dry a bit. Nothing new here. What I really liked was the thoughts on lighting and I go...
