    Looks like a superficial chip and could either be a fill that didn't stick or a weak spot in the surface. Try poking it lightly to see if the wood is soft or just a small chip missing. That can tell you more if you have an issue with the smokability of the pipe, or get out your sharpie to cover...

    I agree as that is probably one of the biggest changes to a career, but we had the same thing when computer were introduced to graphic design. This is a different game though and the artists are also using AI in their work. Be interesting to see where it ends up.
