Hey! Thank you man! So glad you’re enjoying this project with me. After reaming the bowls the damage to the medico showed to be very extensive. After some contemplating I decided to cut the bowl down and make a bent stem pipe out of it, as you can see there is still a missing chunk I have to deal with, gonna use some pipe mud to fill it in a bit. Due to the...

    Outside Smoke Versus Inside Smoke

I have a parrot 🦜 so I can’t really smoke in my house. it’s also not a great idea for humans to sit in a smoke filled room with no ventilation. i used to use a box fan in the window at one end of my living room, that worked pretty good.

    Outside Smoke Versus Inside Smoke

Hey man! location is everything. I’ve seen some pretty nice smoking sheds over the years.
  10. Wesley pipes

    Outside Smoke Versus Inside Smoke

Any indoor space where you can lounge in a chair/couch is best in my opinion. inside my garage with a space heater at one end and the door open a crack, reclining in my antique lazyboy chair, portable tv or a book. my buddy has one of them sheds you can buy from Home Depot that are pre made, its...

Now for that Kaywoodie white briar. This pipe also Had a lot of cake but came out a little easier than the first pipe for some reason. Don’t get me wrong now! If you have ever tried to remove a cake like this one, it’s harder than the wood, and is “baked on” like scraping a well used baking pan...

  14. Wesley pipes

To restore or not to restore… that is the question.

I never completely restore any pipe. I just give them new life, and make them smokable. I’m not the best by any means and I only use hand tools, files, rasps, sand paper, and what ever I have.

Actually I used a mixture of cvs glue and ashes to seal the crack. Also pinned a small hole at the end of the crack on each side and filled it in. I still need to lightly buff everything out and carve the stem a bit more.
  16. Wesley pipes

this is my progress with the “crack shank pipe” after taking the scotch tape off I discovered more issues. I glued the bowl back together and put a thick brass ring on to prevent further cracking. Look at all that cake! Almost a full pipes worth! also as you can see in pics, it had a weird...

To restore or not to restore… that is the question.

This is a set I just bought for $45, lets Call it the eBay special. I have repaired/restored so many pipes over the years I figured I would post some pics before and after of a more challenging set. As a “barely legal 67 year old“ i do my best. And am very open to suggestions… never to young to...
