Most beautiful pipe I will/never use

Definitely gets hot all around and walls are not that thin at all, there is a thin cake layer. the previous owner used this pipe a bit as you can see. I have also tried using it a lot but it’s not very pleasant. i never tried yanking that straw out of the stem, maybe that would slow the draw a...

Most beautiful pipe I will/never use

As you can see the walls are ”kinda” thin but nothing that would cause so much heat so quick. This pipe was definitely used by Someone when I got it, also I have tried smoking it about a dozen times. bowl even has a little cake build on it

    My Favorite Tamper

Depending on the size of the bowl. I usually use my index finger or even my pinky. If its really hot then i lick 👅 the end of my finger first.

    Cracked shank?

I did have to sand off some dents from dropping it, also this is stem #3 one from biting to hard and the other from sitting down with it in my back pocket, used to smoke this pipe every day multiple times for like 10 years! I have learned so much over the last 20 years.

    Cracked shank?

Funny thing. briar can be unpredictable In this way. I have dropped pipes on laminate floors from a kitchen table and ended up cracking the shank and the bowl, and damage to stems, but I have pipes I dropped at least 4 times on concrete from standing and other than surface damage pipe has no...

Most beautiful pipe I will/never use

It really is, you can tell this pipe was intended to be a collector piece.

Most beautiful pipe I will/never use

Looks pretty nice right BBB Own Make Virgin #507 made in London England. No fills, nice balance, excellent piece of briar. Other than a little tooth chatter on the stem that could easily be buffed out there are no visible problems . Now the problem with this pipe… it gets so unbearably hot that...

    One of a kind pipe?

Couple more pictures. Great shape, no fills, never used. but in my opinion it’s a little ugly in a beautiful way… if that makes sense

    One of a kind pipe?

I personally don’t like any rustic carving on pipes like in the 3rd picture, and I almost never keep pipes with stems that are not black, just a preference. I woud switch out the stem but I would feel like I committed a crime if I altered this pipe in any way.

    One of a kind pipe?

Yeah! Was definitely done by a skilled hand, with the way the cursive goes around the curves like that. I purchase lots and lots of pipes over many years and resell the one I don’t want, but sometimes you find yourself a pipe with a mystery attached to it.

    One of a kind pipe?

I was thinking the same thing. The only name brand I could find even close to that is Joseph Ellsworth of New York. He invented the rotating bowl insert pipe, though I forget the actual name.

Show off Your Ropp Pipes here!

2 of mine. The first is an altesse with a copper inlay on stem. The second one although made of a very nice piece of briar, the last owner or past owners did a very good job of polishing the Ropp logo and whatever else it said off from years of use. Both are excellent smokers but I dont know...

    One of a kind pipe?

I just purchased this pipe and can’t find any information on it, it says in cursive “New york“ on the front of the bowl and Joseph Ellworth on the side. The word “Ellworth“ is the only stamp on the pipe, there is the possibility of a slight imprint of a w in front of Ellworth, making it say...

    Anyone recognize the Makers Mark

Anyone familiar with this brand? I got it shipped from an estate sale in chile, just says Perfecto old briar, has really nice grain

    Pipe Stem is Sticking

If you are very carful not to over do it, a very light sanding to the stem may just fix the problem, just like sigmund said, just be careful! it’s easy to sand it off but then it’s off! I have found That some stems just fit too tight to make sense… it needs to be secured to the bowl but should...

    Buffing Old Vulcanite

I have had really good luck using Flitz metal polish to help remove oxidation from vulcanite stems, I find its best to put on a pair of rubber gloves and just rub it into the stem for a few minutes then immediately wipe/clean it off, then add your usual oil to keep the oxidation from coming...
