What Are You Drinking? December 2023

My wife and I went to a Meadery (Pips in Gurnee IL) for the first time. Really good dessert style meads and cocktails. The meads we had were like port on steroids. Great, but pretty pricey - $40 ish for 375 ml. I need to do additional research, but mead appears to be a pretty interesting...

What's Your Favorite After-Shave or Cologne?

Aqua Velva Musk. For a $3-4 bottle aftershave it smells pretty darn good.

What Are You Drinking? December 2023

I have a Binny’s Barrel pick of RR sitting in my basement waiting for a good reason to open it. Perhaps your opinion moves it to next in line. Never had a Wild Turkey product that was not good to great/fantastic.

Dancing Goat Limousin Rye Honey finished. Dancing Goat is out of Cambridge Wisconsin and is doing some interesting things.

    Whisky/Whiskey and . . . . Soda?

Great recommendations. I would also add Knappogue Castle 12 and Jameson Black Barrell or Stout as all solid $30-40 bottles in my area.

    What's For Dinner?

It may be low effort Tbaggins, but boy does that look good. Often on meatless Fridays during Lent I will do a baked potato with cottage cheese and a ton of fresh ground black pepper.

What Are You Drinking? November 2023

Glad you checked them out Bangzoom. There no longer are local roasters close enough to me to visit so I just go with the mail delivery Option. For Good coffee I go a few extra steps and do French press or pour over. Reality is most of the time it’s the drip machine.

    Favorite Peterson Pipe Finish

Rusticated are a distant second to smooth finish for me. Love to see high quality wood grain. Same with gun stocks. Mother Nature wins out everytime with aggressive grain and smooth finish.

Starting a Cigar Collection — Great Deals

I have way over purchased my cigar collection and now have more than I need. I bought too many Cuban's (Monte No. 2, Partagas, Cohiba) while traveling through Germany five years ago. For non-Cuban’s I primarily bought through CigarPage. Thompson’s five pack fever is a good way to explore...

    Cigar Storage

I tend to take the cellophane off when I store my cigars long term. I believe all of my Cuban cigars came without cellophane, for whatever that info is worth. I do keep a a dozen or so still wrapped to help protect them if I anticipate I might carry them with me to a cookout or vacation.

    RIP Charlie Munger

Between Charlie Munger‘s passing, as well as Jack Bogle‘s (Vanguard) a few years back, the investing community has lost two true leaders. A lot of people have vastly improved their lives via these two men.

Who Has a Job He Actually Loves?

I am now retired, but did enjoy my career.…. For those contemplating retirement or struggling with one more year syndrome, try listening to the Andrew Duhon song Slow Down. (Sorry I couldn’t link it directly)

Who Has a Job He Actually Loves?

I am now retired, but did enjoy my career. I spent 31+ years in pharmaceuticals and health care with the last 15 years primarily p0in project management launching new products or corporate initiatives. The realities of corporate stretch goals and overall stress finally reached my fill line and...

    What do you do

Prayer is always my first stop. Then I try to get outside or at least exercise. Both appear to focus the energy/concern into something positive. I try to stay away from alcohol in times of trouble or melancoly. I hope your friends situation improves.

Stauf’s (Roaster out of Columbus Ohio) decaf Highlander Grog coffee. We always get a few bags of their flavored coffee around Christmas time.

    Cranberry Orange Relish Recipe.

What's Your Favorite After-Shave or Cologne?

Aqua Velva (remInds me of the barber shop of my youth). Actually Adidas makes some decent after shaves. I would like to find some natural smelling lime AS.
