    What are You Reading Now?

Living Off your Money by Michael McClung. Mid way through the book, but if you like evidenced based financial advice this is a good choice. Bring your reading glasses as some of the tables get pretty intricate.

    How Do You Deal

I always tried to stay away from the drama and let my work speak for itself. I didn’t hesitate to take on hard projects and never complained unless I had already thought of possible solutions. That said, some AK’ers seem to find some executives who fall for their BS. I made a few lifelong...

    Iconic Movies that Disappoint.

I guess they may qualify for modern iconic (if that is not a contradiction), but I just don‘t get the attraction to Pulp Fiction or The Fight Club. My college age sons both enjoy them, but the movies kind of bore me. Now Shawshank Redemption, Rocky, Forest Gump, I can watch over and over.

What are You Watching? [2023] Please Rate 1-5

We are through seven seasons of Homeland and half way into season eight now. Seasons 1-3 were a 5/5, with the Damien Lewis character really compelling. The remaining seasons still rate 4/5.

From Cigars to Pipes or Pipes to Cigars?

Started with cigars a few times a year and then built up to most weekends when the weather allows. I picked up pipes for the cost savings and variety, but still end up more with cigars. They just seem easier to control and I sometimes struggle with pipe cadence.

What Are You Drinking? October 2023

Picked up a bottle of Bookers Mighty Fine Batch while visiting friends in North Carolina. Bookers is very hard to find in Illinois, so it was great to see multiples on the ABC shelf. it Drinks a little hot, but has nice traditional bourbon profile.

How Do You Take Your Coffee?

Black 50/50 caf/decaf, so my physician does not get too angry at me for the caffeine. And it has to be hot. I leave the room temperature drinks for bourbon and rye.

What Are You Drinking? September 2023

I recently purchased both the MM 46 or the MM46 cask strength . Both are good, but is the cask strength worth twice the cost? To my profile no, so I have found that adding some cask strength to the standard proof raises it into my proof sweet spot 100-105 and justifies the additional cost...

    Maximum cellaring time.

While my experience pales in comparison to many on this forum, I have found my Virginias from McClelland, Gawith , and even PS Stokkebyes Luxury series all seem to sweeten and develop darker flavors since cellaring in 2016. Aro’s seem to start to flatten out a little as they get beyond five or...

From Cigars to Pipes or Pipes to Cigars?

I started with cigars five or six years ago and now somewhat jump back and forth weather dependent. The seasons seem to influence what I am reaching for much of the time. Non-winter months in Northern Illinois I can pull off a couple of hours outside with a cigar. Winter time I am lucky to...

What Are You Drinking? October 2023

We spent the last few days at Parents Weekend at the U of Dayton. Enjoyed a somewhat local beer from Cincinnati. Rhinegeist Franz. Pretty good Oktoberfest in a great environment.
