    Where's Bob

Anyone know whatever happened to Bob (python). I used to enjoy his posts a lot. I see that he last posted about 9 months ago.

If you're going to do something....

A lot of my sweaters and a few shirts have small holes in them. During the summer, I can't keep a clean t-shirt on because of all the tiny ash streaks on the front. Wife wants me to wear a bib, but I'm not that domesticated yet.

Grooming the Fur Kids - Holiday Haircuts

I know what you mean Greg. I don't bother with it myself. Too much fighting. This guy weighs 70 pounds and acts like such sissy when trying to bathe or clip his nails. It takes two people to hold him down and one to do the clipping. He yells, wails, moans and thrashes like you were trying to cut...

    Official Secret Santa 2014

I know getting what you want for Christmas is nice, but as this is supposed to be Secret Santa, listing what you want, and then getting what you're expecting, is kinda defeating the purpose I think. It should be a surprise. Even though you may get something you don't care for. Isn't that the...

    Mac Baren Navy Flake... Opinions

I have tried it several times, but don't really like it. It has a kind of a molasses aftertaste. I think most all of Mac Baren's blends that I have tried have the same aftertaste

Frost Flowers - A First For Me

Never seen anything like it. Do you know what kind of plant that is?

An Observation and Question regarding Estates

As far as a pipe bowl being permeated with tars, etc. there was a post not too long ago about some female destroying the posters pipes. The photo he showed of his pipes being broken up, also showed that the tars had started to soak into the bowl. So I know that it happens. I asked how long he...

    Funny Names

I once saw a misdemeanor warrant for someone called Richard Head. Can you imagine the crap he must have caught in school?

    A Pleasant Surprise

When I was getting ready to come home from Clark Air Base in 1973, they suggested we wear our civilian clothes when we landed in Calif. Times were very different then. Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley and David Brinkley would be telling everyone what the U.S. was doing wrong. Every night. Flower...

An Observation and Question regarding Estates

Maybe I shouldn't say anything since I can't verify what I read, or where I read it, but they were talking about the life of a pipe. According to the folks who had written this, when a pipe has been smoked to the extent that the tars have permeated the entire thickness of the pipe bowl, the...

I wish I could evolve a new one

Amazing how the female developed genitalia to accommodate ours so well. Maybe we somehow shared some of that cloaca with them at some point. Theoretical science never ceases to amaze me.

    Your favorite bourbon?

Bushmills? My favorite brands of bourbon are all Beam and Wild Turkey. Although with Beam selling out to a Japanese Co. I wonder if/how that will change the recipe in the future. Knob Creek from Beam, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Wild Turkey Rye is also fantastic.

Review of The Book of Pipes and Tobaccos by Carl Ehwa

Thanks for posting this. It's a good review of the book, although I found Ehwa's book kinda of boring. I much preferred Rick Hacker's " The Ultimate Pipe Book". Second edition. I've gone back to that many times. Not to encroach on your post, but another really interesting book is "An...

    new Peterson...gurgle

I have had the opposite experience from most on this posting I guess. I've had several system Petersons, and they all gurgled. I won't buy another Peterson for that very reason. Other pipes that I have that are of similar shape to the bent Petersons, have not gurgled, while a few others have...

    Speeding ticket

Yeah, parking lots are usually private property, and unless the police dept. has written authorization to make misdemeanor arrests there, they don't. They can write you for reckless driving though. Besides, who would be setting up radar in a parking lot? No other way to know they were doing 90...

    PAD Unsmoked Straight (?) Grain

That's a great looking pipe newbroom. And the price paid was unbelievable. Excellent catch.

    24 Hours Without a Cigarette...

I agree with quitting cold turkey. It's the only way I was able. I quite in 1981 after I caught a real bad cold. I had that cold for over a week, and didn't smoke the entire time. When I was well, I just wanted to see how long I could go without a cigarette. There were times I would talk myself...

If you can only choose one brand, which one would be?

Within the parameters set by the OP, I would go with Caminetto. Great history, great smoking pipes, and a unique and appealing logo. I haven't bought one in a while, but hopefully they are still making a great pipe. And still somewhat affordable.
