    Favorite Bourbon Whiskey?

Some of my favorites include Old Grandad 114, Wild Turkey 101, and Fighting Cock. But it's a toss up between Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Knob Creek, as to which I prefer most. There are so many great bourbons out today. With all the Small Batch and Boutique Bourbons going on now days, let's not...

Anyone else up early enough to catch the eclipse this morning?

    Had $18,000 For A Car...Bought A Pipe Instead

Well, I guess that's the kind of nonsense you come up with when you don't think that pipes should be made to actually smoke with, like Mr. Pfeifen Huber, the Director of Dunhill does. I wonder how many they will sell.

Agnosticpipe Is Gone... Say Hello To Orley!

    Welcome Orley. I like it.

Turck's Pipes (anybody else heard of them?)

Sorry, I don't have any experience with this brand. I have never heard of it. But hey, you have two great pipes from you grandfather,so names don't matter so much. I hope you enjoy them for a long while.

A GBD Restoration W/ Pics And A Little Story

You did a great job! That is a nice looking pipe. They both are. As for the name change, I say go ahead. I think it's neat having a pipe with your name on it.

    History of Vulcanite: article

Very good article. I was aware of this before though, from reading other articles on vulcanite, so i store my pipes in an old three drawer chest of drawers. My more expensive pipes go into shoe boxes in their respective sleeves, then into the safe. I do have a few pipe racks but I only place...

    Hilson Pipe

Well, I received the pipe yesterday. It's even prettier than it was on the pipe site photo. It came well presented in a Hilson box and red silk sleeve. It also has a lot of birdseye graining on the sides. I just sat it on my desk and looked at it all evening. I have had many new pipes, and of...

    Who Made This Pipe

    That's it! Thank you all.

    Who Made This Pipe

Can anyone tell me who made this pipe? I bought it from a maker I found online 5 or 6 years ago, but I can't remember who it was. I'm fairly certain that it was an American Artisan but I could be wrong. The only nomenclature on the pipe are the letters W B R with three side-by-side diamonds...

    Marriage advice?

Not much I can add to what's already been said. Just remember though, marriage is grand. Divorce is a Hundred Grand. Just saying.

    Failure to Communicate

I guess I'm lucky. My palate must not be as sophisticated as some. A blend will pretty much taste similar to me in whatever I smoke it in. As for films, if you have never seen Cool Hand Luke, there really MUST be a generational gap. Then I will suggest to you that you also watch The Life and...

    Hilson Pipe

Peckingpaw, to answer your question, it's just like a gourd calabash. The meerschaum bowl fits into a cork ring around the top of the briar bowl, and there is an air hole at the other end leading into the stem. It should be cool in the hand while smoking because the bowl has been hollowed out...

    Hilson Pipe

Wow. Looks like there ARE some Hilson fans on here after all. Yep. I do hope it colors up well. I'll post some photos if it does. And Agnostic, I often wondered what to call pipes with a hump on the shank. Thank's for the info. I have one, but never knew it was called a Dromedary. Thank you...

    Hilson Pipe

I don't see a lot of discussion or interest in Hilson pipes on the forum, so I thought I would mention my latest purchase. I have an old one that I picked up at some pipe show for a few dollars quite a while back. It has several fills on the bowl, but has always smoked well, so while passing...

    Civil War Period Briar Pipe

150 years is still too short a time to forget what those "damn yankee invaders" did to the South, so yeah, it's still a sore topic. And some folk will tell you it's not over yet. Memories have a way of lasting a long long time. But this is a pipe forum, so I will not say another word about...

    Fast coloring Battal

Maybe he still uses whale oil on his pipes? I have read that without using whale oil, proper coloring is never achieved. Maybe they are still allowed to use this in Turkey? Just a guess.

My Bowl is Splitting! Is There A Doctor In The House!?

I think Cortez may be correct. Seems like they made the bowl with green briar. Probably needed to be cured a lot longer than it was. But a cake on the inside may stop the cracking further. Hopefully anyway.
