Nose Problem?
It could be due to the smoke actually drying out the skin in your nose (an issue I have with some blends; I believe it is caused by the humectant in my case) - try using a simple saline spray after your bowl and see if that alleviates the issue, of course YMMV, but it works for me!- schmitzbitz

Well said cigrmaster - I would add that every pipe-smoker will have a slightly different cadence that works for them. I have found that your pipe will tell you when you are smoking too fast - it starts with a perceptible warming of the smoke itself, often followed by the bowl - and if not...- schmitzbitz
