    Where Is Bootleg and Cyndy?

Good to hear--I wasn't aware they'd moved and hadn't gotten a response from some emails. I've been absent a bit myself lately--opening another coffee bar in Manhattan, and these projects tend to create a vacuum which sucks my life into limbo. But I ain't leavin', and I'm keeping my secret...

Looks like more laws for NYC coming

I saw this coming a mile away. The World Health Organization is the body largely responsible for pushing anti-smoking policy worldwide. Not surprisingly, the Bloomberg Initiative and other Bloomberg properties play a large part in the think-tanking of this propaganda...

    Difference between briar???

    Fresh vs Aging

Ok, can of worms ahead. I just had a bit of a discussion about this with Russ Ouellette, regarding pipe tobacco vs. cigar tobacco aging and processing. *Generally* speaking, all tobacco mellows and thus improves with age because when it's fresh off the plant it's simply unpalatable. Curing is...

    Question about pipe tobacco?

Generally speaking, around 496 less additives. Think sugar, propylene glycol (a food grade humectant), booze, and...yeah, that's about it.

Think Before You Join Other Forums

Jeebus Harold Christmas, I can't leave this forum alone for a month before all hell breaks loose! How is it I always miss all the fireworks? Did anyone start a "Where on Earth is RomeoWood" thread? Hmm? Ace: Keep posting here, that's an order. You're a valued member of this organization. Bob...

An introduction, some thoughts, and questions from a new smoker.

Adam nailed it with that oft-repeated advice--slow & steady wins this race, my friend. Mainly allow yourself to figure out what works for you. The dedication pays off. I would like to contend two points though: I am the other person that likes Borkum Riff :nana: , and yes, just last weekend I...

The First and Only of My Carvings

That's a sweet take on a Belge actually, bigvan--be proud of it and smoke a light burley in it!

    Tobacco tax

NYC adds an additional 75% after all the other taxes. Oh, and now they don't want you to smoke in your own apartment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7vCww3j2-w

What Are You Smoking? April 2012

Enjoying my second favorite VaPerO, C&D's Sunday Picnic (2009) in a Sasieni billiard. If you want to know what my first favorite is, stay tuned for the article in another week or two. :puffy:

    Some Nat Sherman house blends

Coulda been all that loose Perique I sent too. Did you try a bowl of it straight? I'm debating dipping into some right now in fact....

    A billiard, personally.

Impressed by Escudo... any suggestion for Perique?

Curse you and your brilliant blends! I will concur that Fillmore is a splendid blend, but note that it contains a wisp of Latakia in it--I was shocked at first taste, but I quickly grew on me and makes absolutely perfect sense and balance in this blend, really setting it apart from...

    Some Nat Sherman house blends

Actually, the 510 is a lightly cased Virginia (I believe, but have not confirmed, red VA cavendish), and the 580 is straight VA. But I'm glad you're liking them Jason! I'll try to pin someone down for the skinny on those next time I'm at Nat's.
