There is a city in Texas trying to pass a law saying that city workers can be non smokers only.

That sounds like domestic terrorism to me.
Yo U.S. Military, use some of my tax money and take that fool out.

Have you guys seen the new Mr Bean movie, the one where the Ministry of Defense is sponsored/owned by Toshiba?
I have no issues with the people who campaign against smoking. They do have a valid argument.
But stay the heck off my lawn. :puffy:

That mealy-mouthed scumbag Bloomberg espouses the same sort of drivel when it comes to denying law-abiding gun owners in NYC their right to keep and bear arms, "sensible" rules. Sorry for the strong language folks but he is absolute garbage, and his words and actions pretty much sum up everything that is wrong with this country.

Mr. Bloomberg sure loves tinkering with every aspect of ones personal life.

No artificial transfats in NY, we had to switch to a beef tallow, which contains only naturally occuring transfats (all proteins have them). Of course beef tallow shortening is horrible for your heart, etc. But, it tastes good and is cheap, so thanks Mr. Bloomberg, don't forget to get your heart and cholesterol checked regularly....
A NY health department inspector was going to close our restaurant in NYC down, because our shortening box said "contains transfats". I explained to her the NYC ban was on "artificial transfats". She asked who told me this, I replied, why you did, well the NYC Health Department, your employer. We rec'd a booklet from the NYC health department on what was allowed on the new regulations. Oops, they forgot to share that with their inspectors, either that or she was just an idiot (probably a bit of both). She asked if I could send her that book, sure. She left, hasn't returned since... Idiots and nice job Bloomberg, what an asshat.

Instead of smoking I think he should be worried about the croupt cops muggers and the toxic gases cabs produce over a smoker. whats really the bigger health concern?

Life has a zero percent survival rate. I, quite frankly, don't see the point in living a life devoid of flavor, good drink, and, of course, good smoke. Bloomburg lives to be 150 years old, I live to 65, guess what? No one is going to be changing my adult diapers and I died with a smile on my face because I didn't spend my life trying to deny myself (he's an ex 3 pack a day smoker and salt addict) and everyone else these things that we thought were our inalienable rights because it comes down to personal choice exercised by citizens in free society.
Not in Bloomburgistan.
I also take issue with that being being published on a blog called "The Upshot," but that is a digression.

I saw this coming a mile away. The World Health Organization is the body largely responsible for pushing anti-smoking policy worldwide. Not surprisingly, the Bloomberg Initiative and other Bloomberg properties play a large part in the think-tanking of this propaganda.

Bottom line? There's money in it.

Bloomberg scares me because I have a bad feeling that after he's done being mayor, he's going to go after higher office four years from now. He's a filthy rich bully and a demagogue, the right combination of characteristics that could lead him to the White House. I hope I'm wrong.
