*** What Are You Smoking?*** (July 2019)

Cigmaster - that Rad Davis is smoking hot. Just finished A/B-ing Three Sails and Penny Farthing. The GL Pease puts Three Sails to shame!

What are the Benefits to a Lovat Shape

Depends on the pipe. Bowl diameter and depth affect the flavor and smoke for me the most. Castellos are known for smoking "bright" so perhaps that explains your VA experience.

Pipe Storage & Display - Mostly Sorted

WOAH - where did you get those cases? I was on the hunt for the now discontinued Brigham Stacker Set but these look mighty fine.

    Somewhat Gross Pipe Question

I don’t find much saliva in my bowls but I DO find that certain blends make my mouth water like crazy. Haven’t figured that one out yet.

    Cult Tobaccos

Conspiracy is my favorite of theirs. Nice all around blend.

This Ever Happen to You? USPS

Yep, the USPS actually "lost" a pipe coming from an artisan carver in the UK not that long ago and was never recovered. It was a mess, and and a loss for both of us.

    Some Jose Rubio Pipe Porn

Sable - yeah, he can certainly do more to give the community the specs and prices of his pieces. Hell, if he's got that many available, a little legwork and some basic info would sell those puppies in a heartbeat.

    G.L. PEase Penny-Farthing

I am also in the love it camp, as I love VA and KY blends. The shag cut is fun too. I prefer to use it when breaking in a new pipe as it tends to burn hotter and more evenly than flakes or other ribbons for me. As with all Pease blends, jarring it and letting it sit for a week or two drastically...

    Some Jose Rubio Pipe Porn

Wow, simply gorgeous pipes! If I HAD to pick one, the brown version of the one you're getting would be mine in a heartbeat.

Brigham Pipe Stacker Deep 3 Pipe Drawer

Thanks for clearing the air, Sykes. Guess I'll have to get creative now!

Brigham Pipe Stacker Deep 3 Pipe Drawer

Resurrecting this thread since I just discovered these. Wow! Looks like SP doesn't sell these anymore and I can't seem to find them elsewhere online. Does anyone have any leads on their whereabouts? Maybe discontinued?

    Virginia/Aromatic Blends

I’ll add MacBaren Vanilla Cream Flake.

    Highest Nicotine Budget Tobacco

+1 for 5 brothers. I find it pretty harsh by itself, so I usually cut it w/something else to soften the blow, haha. I'll also throw Erinmore Flake in this category. To me, it's punches pretty hard. Royal Yacht also falls in this category, but sadly, it is no more.

    Let Them Smoke No Cake

Pappy- interesting. I’ll keep this in mind for future experimentation.

    Let Them Smoke No Cake

Ok gotcha. I suppose as long as the water/moisture is removed via pipe cleaner inside the stem there wouldn’t be any residual effects.

    Traveling to Italy, Tobacco Question

Cool thanks. Sounds like if I don’t load up a suitcase with goodies I should be fine. Thank for the tips on Toscanos. Will most definitely be checking those out!

    Let Them Smoke No Cake

I am definitely a swab it out after each smoke. Works well for me. I’m also a subscriber of the hot water flush as some here practice. I wonder how that hot water affects vulcanite stems, as I’ve been told sunlight and moisture are the devil on these materials.

    Traveling to Italy, Tobacco Question

Resurrecting this query as I will be traveling to northern Italy next week. As far as I can tell, the tobacco info listed on Customs' website refers to cigars (100) and cigarettes (200) for no fee. No mention of pipes or pipe tobacco, loose or tinned. Anyone have experience bringing pipes and/or...
