I Decided to Try Maltese Falcon...

Decided to have a bowl last night to confirm what I also detect which is a ginger top note. I gotta say I’m into it!

I Decided to Try Maltese Falcon...

Nothing to speak about here. Move along, Maltese Falcon is no better than your average English bulk blend(s)..... :puffpipe:

A Good Read On Estate Restorations

I've got an electric toothbrush that I use daily. Might have to dedicate one of those expensive brush heads to some rim cleaning and see how she does.

    A Better Reamer?

What about oyster shuckers like the ones SP sells? Folks I know swear by them....any advocates?

One Year, Only One Brand Blender -- Which?

    +1 cig. I'd also choose K&K.

Smoking Virginias Out of a 4.8 Inch Pipe

+1. I mainly smoke VA in nosewarmer type pipes. At first I was hating myself, but figured out how to dry and draw properly. Now I rarely have an issue.

Hey Mister! Your Pipe Is Awesome!

It’s funny, here in New York City I’ve only gotten a response once, as I am also an outside smoker exclusively. They thought it was weed. Charlatans...

A Friendly Reminder to Check Your Tins

I just did a quick "tin-ventory" (haha) and realized that I need to spend a few hundred dollars to mylar up all my tins and bulks! I'd love to hear from the codgers on this one, or the folks who aren't as fearsome about their cellars. Do you guys just accept that you'll lose a few tins to seals...

A Friendly Reminder to Check Your Tins

Thanks Sable. Guess I better start jarring up all my Capstan tins... Do I need a vacuum sealer machine to use w/Mylar?

A Friendly Reminder to Check Your Tins

I triple check my tins whenever I get an order via mail or at a B&M. Per another thread, I do notice the whiff of VA or latakia (depending on which bin I open), so I can't imagine that they suddenly pop themselves open, right? Now I'm wondering whether or not I need to start combing through my...

    Your Most Versatile Blend

+1 workman. Either St Bruno for me or Granger.

    Cellaring In Sealed Bins

I was always under the impression that if you left sealed tins in a bin, they would eventually give off SOME sort of odor, even the slightest. I have my VA and lat blends separate, but always get a whiff when I open the bins up. Do I need to go through and triple check all of my seals.....good...

    Virginia fermentation exceleration # 2

I had some fun w/sealed round VA tins. I put one under the seat of my car over a 48hr period this summer, letting it "sit in the sun" and then I popped the tin two days later, so four days of total experimentation. The results were noticeable compared to a similar tin with the same age...

    Castello Pipe Shapes

I have a shape 71, but it's definitely not a bent pot, it's more of a hawkbill or even a bent apple:

    Best Bulk Virginias?

+1 on the Newminster, as well as the others Hoosier mentioned. I dug out a jar of this I tinned a year ago and was very impressed. I'll be adding more to my cellar.

    Savenelli Shop in Milan

It’s cool but I preferred Noli in the market.

    A Trip To Houston

I'll be in Houston next week for work and was hoping to check out the pipe scene while there. Looks like The Briar Shop is pretty well known, anything else I should check out? Thanks.

    ProtectingThe Cellar Investment

I put some of my long term storage into our storage unit. It’s climate controlled and dark. It’s not the best option, but for my small living arrangements allows me to keep a modest stash for many years. I also have stared cellars at my buddies’ house and my in laws. This guarantees me...
