Where Have all the Pirates Gone?

Tulsa has a couple of Cigar Bars where both booze and smokes are sold. They don't sell pipes but I've smoked my own in there a couple of times. It sort of classes up the place. Cigar Box

Maple Syrup Coating for MM Pipe Chamber

I always coat the bowl of any new pipe with Honey before the first smoke. The sugar carmelizes and helps to start a cake in the bowl. Also keeps the first few smokes of a new cob from tasting like corn. I expect any syrup would work as well. It's the sugar that makes it work.

    Is Pipe Smoking Changing?

My solution to shaving is to have a beard. The last time I shaved my chin was in 1977. I trim it and shave my neck when I shower but that's it. Solves my razor problem.

Just Ordered A New Churchwarden... Gandalf Style... Somewhat

I have two Rigoletto Church Wardens I got years ago from Pipes and Cigars that I smoke regularly. They don't sell them anymore although the Savinelli's look nice. Mine have a decent sized bowl and smoke very cool. Of course, they are well broken in by now. I sit in a recliner and rest them on my...

What Pipe Brand Most Consistently Makes a Great Smoking Pipe?

I have probably 40 pipes. some are eBay treasures that I never heard of or no-name wonders. My pride and joy are the three Peterson System pipes, seven Savinelli Roma and one beautiful Savinelli Punto Oro. Those all smoke really good. In addition, I have one big Danish freehand that is...

    Is Pipe Smoking Changing?

I started smoking a pipe when I was in college in about 1960. I had two briar pipes I bought at the drugstore and smoked Half & Half. Sometime later I discovered Borkum Riff and thought it was exotic. That was my go-to tobacco for a long time. Then I quit. Then I started smoking cigars, now I'm...

Guilt over Getting Too Good of a Deal?

This is an interesting thread. I have bought quite a few pipes on eBay and some were a good deal and some I was disappointed with. In either way, it is both buyer and seller beware. I would no more feel bad about getting a good deal than kicking myself for paying too much. That comes with the...

    Replacement P-lip Mouthpieces

If it is no longer possible to buy a replacement Stem for a Peterson p-lip, has anyone found an aftermarket stem that will work? It has a tapered fit so I would think that if you found a stem with the proper diameter it should be possible to sand it down to fit. My problem is that I like the p-lip.

    Replacement P-lip Mouthpieces

Nobody sells those anymore. Maybe Peterson has quite supplying them so they can the business for themselves. Sounds like it would be cheaper to buy a crap p-lip on eBay and cannibalize the stem.

    Replacement P-lip Mouthpieces

I purchased a Peterson p-lip system pipe from eBay that I plan to restore. The bowl is in decent shape, but the mouthpiece is beyond hope. I have searched Google and different forums in vain for a supplier of replacement stems. The references I have found are either 'not found" or the supplier...

Stanwell Brushed Black Pipes - $19.99 at P&C

I just now saw this post and got all excited. The brushed brown is no longer offered. That's what I get for not reading the forum often enough.

Am I Missing Something About This Cob?

I think you would be paying $5 for the pipe and $147 for the package. He can ask what he wants but I can't imagine anybody paying that much for a cob, old or not. I notice that the package has a bar code on it which says it's not even that old. As P. T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every...

Show Off The Favorite Pipe Lighter Of Yours

My old brass Zippo with a Thunderbird butane insert. I love it for lighting my pipe. I just wish it held more butane so I didn't have to refill it so often. It is the perfect pipe lighter and it makes that satisfying Zippo "click" when I close it.

What Is Your Single Most Favorite Thing About Smoking a Pipe?

I love the whole ritual of selecting a pipe, choosing the right tobacco, loading the bowl carefully, then lighting and enjoying a nice smoke.

    MM Corn Cob

The forever stems look great but I hate to pay twice as much for the stem as for the pipe. Are they worth it? Will they fit any MM cob so I can reuse them if I wear out my cob?

    MM Corn Cob

I've never been able to detect any ghosting from smoking different tobaccos in the same pipe. But then I've probably burned off my taste buds from smoking too much.

    MM Corn Cob

A small hole appeared in the bottom of my MM Eaton. Anything you all recommend with which to plug it? The best way is to take $5 to the drugstore and buy a new one. You should get some change back. If you're really cheap, you can plug the hole with some plaster of paris. Good luck.
