I continued to hold reservations over the MacQueen pipes concerning the aluminum tenon.
Don't let that stop you. Many pipes with bamboo use metal tubing to help secure the joint between bamboo and briar with no issue. Good looking pipe you've got there.

How do they smoke?

Are they comfortable to hold ?

Would you recommend one ?
They smoke the same as any other pipe really.
I prefer holding a churchwarden to any other type of pipe. I'm guilty of slouching a bit sometimes with a drink in one hand, the other hand petting, well, a pet, and letting the bowl rest on my chest all while in a half-comatose state. Pure bliss.
I agree with others who are more active with/clench their pipes about them not being ideal but that's not me and will likely never be me. I don't always smoke but when I do it's more for relaxation and enjoyment than anything. I would recommend one to anyone who is in the later category like me.
I have 4 or 5 but my favorite is a rusticated Savinelli Qandale 602 KA that I got from TobaccoPipes:

I've had my eye on a Vauen for awhile now but they're a little pricey. The one CCW got looks like a nice alternative for a fraction of the price.
BTW, I have plenty of "regular" pipes that sit and don't get used and the Sav I posted above gets used more than any other pipe I own. I'm kinda the opposite of others here.

I agree. I would likely consider it if they still had the models that looked more like the ones they had when the LotR was out. The models they have today don't make me want to spend that much on them. That's why I branched out to see what else was out there and found Matt making these churchwardens and for the price, I thought it couldn't really be beat for what you're getting.
That quandale is very nice

I might just pull the trigger on that sav

Damn PAD !!!!! Lol
I have also looked at those a good bit too. I've also been eyeing this Neerup...

One of our members is selling a nice Butz Choquin Churchwarden on here. And at a pretty damn good price too! Check it out:

Oooooh, now there's a pipe for a pirate! You can smoke a bowl and if a land lubber get's in the way, you can poke him in the eye with end of your pipe and keep on lunting along!
