Getting Pert Near To Latakia Season

Yeah ... I started with a few bowls since late September, but we have an unusual hot fall ... it must be constantly below 10 C in order to come in, and smoke one in the evenings. More and more I associate lat blends with cold weather since a few years back.

Methilic Alcohol as a Cleaning Agent

Before doing something stupid, I thought I should ask. I am getting ready to distill some more grappa and plum brandy this year, so as a result of the process I will have methanol on my hands. Since this compound resulting as a side product cannot be consumed (going blind being the drunk's least...

    RIP Alan Hawkshaw

Didn't know the guy ... but his music sure is agreeable. I just looked him up on spotify. God rest his soul ..

    Blends Everybody Should Try Once?

Quite a few come to mind ... but with the risk of being stoned to death, I will say it: Royal Yacht by Dunhill :D

***What Are You Smoking, September 2021?***

A rustic Samuel Gawith Commonwealth in a Peterson silver band ... goes swell with an afternoon cup of Ceylon

    A Pipe and a Drink (?)

Very sound advice, sir. I am not at the point of fighting an urge for alcohol, but I do get your meaning.

    A Pipe and a Drink (?)

Zetea is not bad, although a bit to high in alcohol degrees for my taste. I live in Timisoara, so as a 5 generation Banat man, I do prefer something closer to 42 degrees. I get my quince from the Republic of Serbia, I have relatives there :)

To All You Clenchers Out There

Some are work horse pipes for me, and I don't care if they get chewed at, others I prize more, and I do tend to protect them. I have a Dunhill bulldog half bent, for example, which is so light that no matter how much I clench it won't get damaged. Of course, I don't treat the stem as chewing...

    A Pipe and a Drink (?)

As time goes by ... a long day's work is much more bearable with a drink and a smoke in the evening. This has become, not necessarily the norm lately, but with the whole pandemic and hardships of the past year and a half I sure upped my drinking habit. I know this is not quite a healthy...

Help Me Enjoy My IMCO Lighter

Zippo wicks will work just fine, just be careful with the cotton when replacing the wick. Mine was old as time, and the cotton was very brittle inside, it didn't come out nicely, so I tore it apart a bit. When filling it it tends to not light on a first strike...

***What Are You Smoking, September 2021?***

Come September, and the cool weather, I am back to my pipe rack. It's a Dunhill 90s bulldog, with some H&H black house this evening.

    Gunge On Rim Of Pipe

I call it "lava" ... my pipes tend to get that on the rear part of the rim, and little in front, it may be my smoking technique, I don't know. Any road, I am with cosmic on this one, a bit of spit takes you a long way. I always thought that it's from the smoke that comes out by the edge of the...

    Dry or Moist Pipe Tobacco

Except for the semois varietal, I like my tobacco on the moist side. In fact, bone dry tends to annoy me, as it may burn too fast and give an ashy taste. I don't judge people who smoke dry, it's just not for me.

    The Workers Smoke

I home office every so often, and every so often I light a pipe ... I usually don't like to clench a pipe while I am concentrated with work, but it works sometimes. I don't have a preference ... whatever feels fine on the spot.

    In The Kitchen

I do most of my prep/cleaning in my den, the wife isn't too much into my hobby. She tolerates it and for that I am grateful.
