    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

You have the shapes correct in your first post above. The 314 is the standard system shape and the 20s is the deluxe system shape that corresponds to the 221

    What's the Lowdown on Uhle's?

I haven’t tried all the burley‘s out there, but Uhles‘ burley is so much better than anything else I’ve tried I don’t see anything topping it. I like burleys with a little sweetness, and Blend 300 is my favorite. Haven’t tried any other genre but if you like burley I’d highly recommend checking...

Best "Bulk" Navy Flake/Straight VA Flake

Everyone’s tastes are different and I’ve never tried 507-C, but that was my first experience with VA’s as well. I felt like I may as well been smoking a cigarette and I wasn’t impressed. I thought everyone was crazy with how much praise they got. Then my smoking cadence and packing improved...

    My Birthday Spigot

Happy Birthday! I’ve come close to pulling the trigger on a spigot but I’m holding out hope they release a copper spigot System in the near future. Hope you enjoy your new pipe!

    Fixed bend but now look!

Out of curiosity - if you have a stem that is heavily oxidized and you remove it via OxyClean or something similar, what effect does that have on the integrity of the stem itself? Does it become more brittle? Or is the effect not meaningful enough to notice?

My Altinay - 2 Years Later

The way that is coloring almost uniformly over the whole bowl is pretty amazing. I wasn't a huge fan of carved meerschaums initially but they are growing on me and that one is really well done

    Outdoor smoking

Depending on your experience level, I would suggest a meerschaum pipe. I only smoke outdoors and if there is more than a slight breeze I reach for my meerschaums. I smoke flakes 80% of the time anyway, but they are better when it’s windy for the reasons crashthegrey mentioned.

Best "Bulk" Navy Flake/Straight VA Flake

If you consider 8 oz cans bulk - and I do - C&D Opening Night & GL Pease Union Square are both phenomenal VA flakes. I don’t really care for VaPer’s so I don’t have any suggestions for those. If by bulk you mean available by the oz, I’d agree with most of the suggestions already given

    My New Savinelli Roma

My first name brand pipe was the Roma. I’ve had it over 15 years and it’s still going strong.

    Peterson P-lip Replacement Stem

Thank you for the info and thread. It’s an unsmoked Connemara 307 and the hole at the button is so small a cleaner won’t really fit and the draw is no good as a result. Normally I’d sell it and move on but this one is a solid 20 grams lighter than my other 3 and if I can get the right stem I...

    Peterson P-lip Replacement Stem

Thanks ashdigger. I was hoping to find somebody in the States to do it but if I have to send it to the factory that’s what I’ll do

    Peterson P-lip Replacement Stem

Does anyone know where to get a new stem for a Peterson System pipe? I’ve had Rich at Briarville make them in the past but he’s been out of stock for awhile. I’ve got a vintage Pete that needs it.
  16. MikeDub

    Why Peterson?

I was originally drawn to them because I liked the way they looked. I keep purchasing more of them because I like the way they smoke. I'm not sold on the System for straight and slightly bent pipes, but they're the best I've found for the deeply bent jaw hangers that I prefer. The 14B, 305, and...

Pretty sure Lane 1Q and/or RLP have a caramel topping that might be close

    sopping wet tobacco

I got some Wilke's Vermon Maple Cavendish that was extremely moist when I got it. I just gravity filled my pipe and it smoked slow and cool and didn't leave any excess moisture. I always leave my tobacco out for about an hour or so before I smoke and it seems to be fine even though it is still...

    Folklore

Sounds like Mad Fiddler Flake with DFK and in a crumble cake. I'm definitely all over this one

    Birthday Acquisition

Based on the white color near the burnout I would say it’s a flaw in the briar. SP should take care of you given the length of time you’ve had the pipe.
