    Preparing for winter

I have a part time job at a B&M and though our rules state you must make a purchase to use the lounge, as foolwiththefez said, we don't strictly enforce it for the regulars. I know who is there and spends money, why harass them? Obviously every shop is different but it's worth a shot.

Thank You To Mike at 4noggins

I've been choosing 4N over SPC recently. Nothing against SPC at all but prices are very close and service has always been excellent. Also the house blends are fantastic!

    The Nicotine Experience?

It would be interesting to be able to put a number to the Nic content of various strains of leaf or even blends. Obviously there are tons of factors to consider; dust settling in the bottom of a tin would make a sample different than a pinch taken from the top. It would make reviews more...

    Aging tobacco and refrigerators

McClelland's Meatloaf Mixture hitting shelves this holiday season!

    Esoterica Margate

Just ordered a bag of Margate from Iwan Ries for 36 smackers. I don't have any issue with that price honestly and have enjoyed all the Esotericas I've had.

    Hand Rolled Cigars

They look great! There's a guy on another forum that sent me a few of his home rolled sticks and they were a treat. They definitely could have used some rest as they had a good amount of moisture but it was my own lack of patience that sparked the flame. Keep us posted.

Free Penzance, Stonehaven and Rich Dark Flake

I may try to make it depending on the family schedule and my 2nd job at the smoke shop. If I can make it I'll bring a nice assortment of goodies to share.

    Winner winner, highest bidder!

Never had much luck in the past but won 4 auctions in the last two days. A nice GBD Bulldog and about a dozen beaters to practice restorations on (many Willards).

    Breaking Pipes

A half dozen Dr Grabows were thrown out by my mother years ago ( she thought they were paraphenalia for something else). My ex wife threw one away because, well, she's a steaming pile of something. Most recently, I had a very small basket billiard perfect for traveling unless left on the roof of...

My first resto: Kaput ain't kaput.

Very nice work so far, it looks great. I just decided to take the plunge and have 4 auctions worth of junkers heading my way to clean up. This and all the other threads are really inspiring.

    The day isn't complete without...

Hard to narrow it down. Coffee, smelling the 2 year old's head, hamming it up with my older boy, and obviously that last bowl of the day when the house is quiet and my wife and I can actually have grown up conversation.

    Pipe Skills Improving

But was it a "fine white ash"? Kidding aside, that is a great moment and something to strive toward.

    Esoterica

Almost pulled the trigger on the Margate but I too have spent enough for the month on treats. I've seen most all blend except Pen and SH come up enough to know I will be able to grab it in the next couple months. WI'd love to get a bit of the 2 elusive blends but would never pay anything about...

Venturing into cigars (...as a side. I'll never abandon my pipes!)

Drew Estate's Kentucky Fire Cured is very accessible if you're normally into smokier pipe blends.

Frog Morton's Cellar and Dunhill MM965 come to mind.

    Smoke in My Face

While many chase Esoterica blends, many of us prefer to chase moments like this.

    Mason Jar Question

My understanding of it is if your goal is to age, you dont want to pack it in too firm. There should be some air to aid in the aging process. If it's simply for storing until you can smoke it all, a firmer pack wont hurt.

Peterson Irish Oak. What say you?

I find it can be pretty rough on my mouth despite a slow cadence. The room note is wonderful but hard to notice unless you leave and come back.

    Pipelist

Blatant price gouging. I get that some people are willing to pay inflated prices for the harder to find leaves out there but this is insanity.
