Back when people were saying that it was "impossible" to find, the B&M's still had plenty. The Briary had all of the Esotericas in stock and dusty until I posted that they had them, and Skip said that the phone rang non stop all day that day. Others said that their B&M had them also. So, honestly, I think the whole grab for these blends was a lazy endeavor, hitting only the popular online vendors mostly.
BTW, I need to ask Skip for a cut in the Esoterica action, ha ha. Maybe, he'll throw in a couple of tins for my efforts, ha ha.
Anyways, yes, I think that if they do step up production, that the craze will die down. Because honestly, I think that psychology is at play here. If Penzance was as easy to get as a Frog Morton, people would choose something different. It's like Rick Newcombe had mentioned (I think it was him) when someone pays a lot of money for a pipe, their ego will lie to themselves about how much better that pipe smokes, because they don;t want to admit to themselves that they were taken. I think the same thing happens with tobacco. Mmmm, this Porsche drive so great... even though it needs new shocks, is out of alignment, and has injector issues.
Being in the jewelry business, I could rattle on and on about the psychology of money, prices, and ego. It doesn't work like you'd think it does, despite how we "think" it should work. Let's just say that guys who save a ton of money on a quality stone for an engagement ring, almost always bring it back unsuccessful.
