I'm all for a better supply, but didn't I hear that Esoterica production (and C&D too for that matter) had been shifted to Denmark??

Why would C&D shift production to Denmark?
Or, for that matter, Esoterica be switched from Germain's? Though I've expressed that Germain's should either expand their production to service their market or let go of making some products, I've never heard of that being a possibility.

Only 10 pounds, jeepnewbie?!?! Are you sure that's enough to get you through the coming tobacco apocalypse?

I've noticed 8oz bags available more often, one blend at a time, over the last 3 weeks. In the short time (4 months) I've been paying attention it's a notable change.

I wonder if an increase in production would lead to the market adjusting to a new price equilibrium.
If not immediately, eventually, yes. Prior to the interruption in shipments you could buy Esoterica product without any marked difficulty and the panic buying didn't exist. But it will take some time before the hoarding dies down.

That bag of Margate is tempting...I've spent a little too much on tobacco already this month though :/

Back when people were saying that it was "impossible" to find, the B&M's still had plenty. The Briary had all of the Esotericas in stock and dusty until I posted that they had them, and Skip said that the phone rang non stop all day that day. Others said that their B&M had them also. So, honestly, I think the whole grab for these blends was a lazy endeavor, hitting only the popular online vendors mostly.

BTW, I need to ask Skip for a cut in the Esoterica action, ha ha. Maybe, he'll throw in a couple of tins for my efforts, ha ha.
Anyways, yes, I think that if they do step up production, that the craze will die down. Because honestly, I think that psychology is at play here. If Penzance was as easy to get as a Frog Morton, people would choose something different. It's like Rick Newcombe had mentioned (I think it was him) when someone pays a lot of money for a pipe, their ego will lie to themselves about how much better that pipe smokes, because they don;t want to admit to themselves that they were taken. I think the same thing happens with tobacco. Mmmm, this Porsche drive so great... even though it needs new shocks, is out of alignment, and has injector issues.
Being in the jewelry business, I could rattle on and on about the psychology of money, prices, and ego. It doesn't work like you'd think it does, despite how we "think" it should work. Let's just say that guys who save a ton of money on a quality stone for an engagement ring, almost always bring it back unsuccessful.

My guess would be because of the times we're in. It's 2015, people would rather signup for an email notice from SmokingPipes, P&C, 4Noggins etc. than spend hours calling up random B&Ms all over the country trying to track down a blend.
I would agree that some of the hype for these blends is brand over briar or in this case brand over blend. I'm sure some people think they're the bees knees simply because they're hard to find.
These blends have become legendary, so I don't see the hype dying down any time soon even if Germain's Amos up production and somehow they do become regularly in stock even at major online tobacconists.

Almost pulled the trigger on the Margate but I too have spent enough for the month on treats. I've seen most all blend except Pen and SH come up enough to know I will be able to grab it in the next couple months. WI'd love to get a bit of the 2 elusive blends but would never pay anything about the 35ish retail price.

Couldn't agree more.

The Yugo was just 30 years ahead of the curve and had bad marketing. It was a FIAT design. Today there's lots of those little FIAT 500s around. Not much different, but styled, interior'd and marketed better.
