Neighbor Gifted Me Her Grandfather’s Pipes!

Have a link? A casual eBay scroll through 1,000+ pipes this morning and I didn’t see this pic, but I’d certainly like to… I love busting eBay scammers.

Àll I Wanted was Another Tin of Crooner, but......

I’m not sure I understand what this example is meant to illustrate? (Perhaps I’m just dense, can you unpack this for dummies like me?)

    What are You Reading Now?

Spent the day reading this ahead of an upcoming podcast chat with the author on Tuesday. A compelling read, way outside my expertise.

    Peterson Holmes

I like SH as-is, think the topping is delightful (very much similar to that used on Royal Yacht), so I can’t be of much help. The thin ribbon bordering on shag cut does remind me of bulk Gawith Hoggarth blends, many of which also use African-grown Virginias and burleys. I’m thinking specially...

Tobaccos of Yesterday that are basically Gone

“Google it on Bing”? What do you have against Asking Jeeves?

Àll I Wanted was Another Tin of Crooner, but......

I mean, C&D *does* have a “Cellar Series” that they specifically market as being designed to peak 5-10 years after release, so to say that it’s only end-users who are recommending C&D tins need age is not quite accurate.

An Email I Just Received From No. 6 Cavendish In Britain

IIRC, you did that just once, no? And then restored his son to the throne, the “Glorious Restoration”?

    Rouseco Buoy Gold

I smoke D&R Ryback at least three times a week if not more. It’s delicious and packs a suitable punch for a quick smoke. On the other hand, I’m happy if folks knock it, as it means it’s never out of stock when I re-up.

    Things I Found Thrifting/Garage Sailing/Antiquing

Those aren’t really airtight lids. How will you keep the moisture in?

    Gawith and Esoterica drops

Dude, they still are as an adult!

    Smokin-G tobacco

I've not seen Smokin-G, I have seen OHM and the a house-blend bag tobacco when I pop in to get lotto tickets at the local Low Bob's. I haven't seen fit to get one of them yet, as I am well stocked with Daughters & Ryan Ryback, Two Timer, and Ramback yet.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Hey, I recognize that tin! What is your assessment of the blend?

***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

    Royal Comfort relaunch

Yeah, at $17.55/tin. The reviews of the original are not promising, so unless C&D (the blender of this iteration) has done something dramatic to improve the recipe, it's a hard pass for me. https://www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/2170/john-middleton-inc-royal-comfort/

Excellent Article on William Serad: A Pipe Tobacco Wizard

That was excellent, thank you for sharing the piece, Mike!

Alright, you convinced me. I’ll order a bit!

    It Came!

We have a medallion hanging on the front of my house (it was there when we moved in) that looks like that! Bacchus, the Roman god of wine?

142-Year-Old Pipe Tobacco Shop on Harvard Square

@Boko_Fittleworth, I'm interested in the DPE Mixture, any idea what bulk it actually is/who makes it?

142-Year-Old Pipe Tobacco Shop on Harvard Square

Hmmm. They describe their “Judge’s Mixture” blend as (emphasis added): “An L&P exclusive; mild to medium and slightly sweet, with a black cavendish base lightly flavored with mango.” Sutliff made that blend and it was available via multiple vendors. Not exactly “L&P exclusive.” (Well, perhaps...
