***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

Scouting different locations for Dove season. This particular area will be raining lead on the opener. Enjoying some C&D Briar Fox in a Castello.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

It’s got more sparkles than a Nudie suit, it’s getting smoked. I have had tobacco that had mold and sparkles, once bitten twice shy after that. That’s why I like the microscope, plus it’s kind of cool to look at tobacco with it. In the words of Butthead, “ I like stuff that’s cool”

What's Everyone's Opinion of the New Peterson Cobble Pipes?

It looks like some of the grain is showing up along with the rustication, not sure if this is accurate but if so, pretty cool. Ebonite is generally a deal breaker for me though. I’ve got one P-Lip and after four years of smoking it, it’s a no. Maybe I’ll grow to like it.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

2013 C&D Five O’ Clock Shadow in a Savinelli 673. Fresh out of the tin, I’ll revisit this in a week or two. Definitely an earthy smoke.

C&D Five O’Clock Shadow from 2013. Sparkling like a disco ball. I recommend these small microscopes for tobacco inspection.

C&D Winchester in a Savinelli Spinosa 320. This blend scratches the “I’m in the mood for a softer smoke” itch. Getting ready for the Filipino family visit. Lots of food is being prepared. ***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

C&D Pegasus in a dedicated Savinelli 320 Punto Oro. We have family coming over from the Philippines, this will be their first time in the US. I am working on the menu right now, so far it’s chorizo, potato, and kale soup with pan con tomate and Manchego. The big dinner will be steak, risotto...

***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

Haha, the stem is just the middleman so I got rid of him. Actually It’s a reverse calabash so I take the stem out to clean the well directly after smoking.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2025?***

I always put my lighter on the dash when I’m smoking and driving but now I will not. Imagine if it exploded while driving, no good. I doubt it would explode while you’re driving because the AC is going or the windows are down. However, once bitten, twice shy.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2025?***

Well, I always wondered when I’d forget my Bic and leave it on the dash in the truck on a hot day. Kablooey! Bang! Boom! That means it exploded, however there was no damage to speak of. C&D Bayou Morning in a Peterson 338.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2025?***

Presbyterian in a Briarworks made for the 45th Anniversary of Bruce’s Pipe Shop (also known as B&B) in Asheville NC. Briarworks chose this shape because the stamping would fit on the big shaft. I’m pretty sure that’s the story I was told. The stamping is much more crisp than the photo shows...
