Cavalier is leaking.
I ran x-fine sandpaper around the briar because the cap was tight and I thought I would eventually break something. A slight but annoying leak stops midway througha bowl, and I'm assuming that's because the briar swells a little with moisture. (In the meantime I use the "oil" on my beard!) I can...- mpjetset

Mead brewing, not concerned with pipe look, can smoke anything, gets to work outdoors and smoke... brother I envy you. I just hope you keep your own bees (for brewing and restoring meers with your own beeswax) and have a beard. Complete dude.- mpjetset

I am not loving this old Viprati. Visually, its stunning when cleaned and wiped. It's half full of Three Nuns, which are fine, but because it is so big and heavy I clench and haven't smoked it enough to build a decent cake. How Slow is Slow?
I'm a slow smoker and that would be very slow for me, and it would include re-lights. I'm around 75 minutes. Do you ever get a sign a well-seasoned pipe is about to gurgle? That's where I like to smoke, just a little hotter so there's no actual gurgle. That's where I find the sweetest flavor...- mpjetset

Do you find a difference smoking in dark, where you can't see smoke? I've gotten a little better over the years but for some reason not seeing the smoke reduces the pleasure of a bowl quite a bit. A humid night in the Southern woods is one of my favorite places but I need to see the smoke.- mpjetset
