    Cavalier is leaking.

I ran x-fine sandpaper around the briar because the cap was tight and I thought I would eventually break something. A slight but annoying leak stops midway througha bowl, and I'm assuming that's because the briar swells a little with moisture. (In the meantime I use the "oil" on my beard!) I can...

    New Guy in New England

Mead brewing, not concerned with pipe look, can smoke anything, gets to work outdoors and smoke... brother I envy you. I just hope you keep your own bees (for brewing and restoring meers with your own beeswax) and have a beard. Complete dude.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

I am not loving this old Viprati. Visually, its stunning when cleaned and wiped. It's half full of Three Nuns, which are fine, but because it is so big and heavy I clench and haven't smoked it enough to build a decent cake. The humongous deep bowl would probably require a dozen or more slices...

Effects of Altitude on Smoking Certain Blends?

St. Bruno... i found a couple of old tins purchased around 2000 and don't recall it... that's not the little tin that tastes like Vicks, is it? All I remember is that I wasn't in love with it back then; what do you think I can expect now?

That pipe... the contours aren't following the grain, are they? Looks great.

    How Slow is Slow?

I'm a slow smoker and that would be very slow for me, and it would include re-lights. I'm around 75 minutes. Do you ever get a sign a well-seasoned pipe is about to gurgle? That's where I like to smoke, just a little hotter so there's no actual gurgle. That's where I find the sweetest flavor...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

That pipe with the lanyard anchor point and cap looks like something a gentleman might carry on a fox hunt. Beautiful and functional. Art in motion.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

Do you find a difference smoking in dark, where you can't see smoke? I've gotten a little better over the years but for some reason not seeing the smoke reduces the pleasure of a bowl quite a bit. A humid night in the Southern woods is one of my favorite places but I need to see the smoke.

What Are You Listening To - June, 2024

My playlist includes Blackberry Smoke, Ray Willie Hubbard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, some older country, some older rock, etc. Anything with an edge, and a few Billy Dean because he's family on my SIL' s side. Sort of a low-key Southern Rock smokey bar vibe but some surprises. 430 songs and...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

I've found that a two-minute shower or dip in the pool first makes for a good smoke in summer's humidity. Wet is good.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

More of the old Three Nuns I've been working through all week at the beach in a gentle-smoking Tsugi, with rich black coffee, after a dip in the pool. Back to the 'burbs in Weston SE Florida.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I don't know if the sugar crystals are evident but this is a 2000-era Three Nuns. We are at the beach this week and I am working it in a couple beater-cobs with a lawn chair wind block and strong coffee. They sparkle and I'm day dreaming about how they'd make for an espuma for Cuban coffee. I...

    Coffee Compass for Tobacco Ratings

Title edited for capitals and brevity. (Rule 9) Would you please add location? Who can get it done? Imagine the time and expense saved dialing in of preferences? I'm thinking, to begin, the four points would have to be Latakia, Virginia, Burley, and ... aromatics? Credit...

How I Coped with Beach Breezes for a Good Smoke.

I have been on the same page until recently. Suddenly, I can smoke in heat and humidity, preferring cobs to briars for them.
