Time for a Smoke and a Shiver! (4th Annual)

    Awesome pipe! Where’s it from?

    Lane Black Raspberry

Outdoor only smoker, so I’ve never noticed. I’ll have to give my coat a whiff.

    Lane Black Raspberry

Haven’t had the Newminster Blackberry Brandy. Another to add to the list!

    Lane Black Raspberry

I may be in the minority of pipe smokers who like aro’s, but just had to share my love for this stuff. Total guilty pleasure! I enjoy CBRM, Hobbit’s Weed Match and Lord Methley’s, but gotta say that Lane’s offering is really quite good. Doesn’t hurt that my wife thinks it smells nice also.

    Missouri Stems

I just wish VF offered acrylic stems that accepted a filter.

    Carving A Pipe

Finally finished! Turned out better than I had hoped at the beginning, especially without power tools. Not bad for a first attempt I figure. Now hopefully it doesn’t crack on its’ maiden voyage.

    Carving A Pipe

Thanks. I’ve done it all with a wood carving knife, gouge and sand paper. Man, carving briar is tough! I’ve carved tons of toys and animals for my daughter, but that’s usually bass wood. Briar is another story!

    Carving A Pipe

Been working on carving myself a pipe. Currently, the chamber walls are a half inch thick. Is there any drawback to having such thick chamber walls other than weight?

    Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer

Thanks guys. Appreciate it. I read the other threads on the topic, and the answers were all over the place. Didn’t want to make a costly mistake early in the cellaring game.

    Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer

Yeah. For tobacco. I just know a lot of people talk about heating the jars etc. I mentioned this in another post, that I didn’t do any of the heat etc. so was wondering if this would help my cellar last longer.

    Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer

Has anyone ever tried one of those mason jar vacuum sealers? I just screwed down my jars tight and was thinking if using one to achieve a better seal without reboiling/redoing some recently stored jars.

Cellaring- How Long is too Long?

Thanks my friend. Appreciate the help as always.

Cellaring- How Long is too Long?

So no need to jar then? Just keep in Mylar? Good to know!

Cellaring- How Long is too Long?

Actually the bags from 4 noggins appear to be netallized Mylar and sealed above the ziplock. Maybe they’ve upgraded 😊 Here’s a pick with top seal cut off above ziplock. Ps. Don’t judge, but I love the Lane Black Raspberry!

Cellaring- How Long is too Long?

When I buy bulk from 4Noggins, it comes in a sealed Mylar bag. Is it better to cellar in these bags, or move to jars? Sorry to ask so many questions. Not new to the pipe, but new to trying new tobaccos and cellaring. Used to just smoke what my dad did and bought as needed. As 50g has become...

Cellaring- How Long is too Long?

Thanks so much! Yeah. I was thinking I was just a huge idiot by just screwing down the jars. I have labelled everything and put nice cellar label stickers on the top of each lid, so I couldn’t easily redo everything. Although, compared to most, my 5 pound cellar is just in its’ fledgling youth...

Cellaring- How Long is too Long?

I know this is a vague question, with various types of tobaccos aging differently, but approximately how long can bulk tobaccos or opened tins put into mason jars last if not opened again? I didn’t heat my mason jars. Just washed them thoroughly and then screwed them down tight. Would this...

    Rattray Mary

Looking at the Rattray Mary as a small pipe during the cold Canadian winter. Getting too old to sit outside for over 30 min. I really like the look of the pipe. Any thoughts from those of you who have smoked one? I’ve never owned a Rattray pipe. I regularly smoke and enjoy 9mm charcoal filters...

    Pipe Stain

Bought a Mr. Brog briar pipe carving block. Any recommendation on a non-toxic wood stain for the finished pipe? Conversely, would you just leave it natural with a beeswax/carnuba wax finish? Appreciate any help.

    Bent or Straight Stem?

Most of my pipes are bent. I love bent for clenching, however, can’t beat the look of my Bing’s favourite.
