You are welcome Cortezattic. This list of Daniel's has been useful in his business, a second generation tobacconist and in his personal pursuits. It's meant to be a framework on which to build observations. As has already been stated, the influences on the smoking experience of a blend are...

    Standardizing Pipe tobacco Scoring?

Although I rely on allegory in many of the blend reviews, I've found that a degree of standardization has it's benefits, as long as it doesn't get in the way of effectively expressing such a subjective experience. Daniel, at Synjeco has made this for available, which I've found useful...

    A culture worth protecting

Pstlpkr is onto the right thing... Be an ambassador for the pipe culture. When people do remark, and a good number of times it's something positive, I try and be a good example. People understand what they experience and occasionally, I find someone who really wants to learn. The...

A friend advises me that he believes that it is actually Andreas Bauer & Sohn, Wien which is German for: Andreas Bauer & Son, Vienna. I ran it thru Babelfish and the results are: Andreas's Farmer & Son, Vienna. This sheds a bit of light on the situation. Now, I'm wondering if this Pipe's...

Thanks guys, and thank you Bob for fixing the pic. I should have the Pipe in hand in a day or two. My plan is to put it to good use, not just sitting around like it has been for the last 18 years. This Estate Pipe took bidding in the current price ranges for Andreas Bauer Pipes from...

    Dunhill replacement

I enjoy Dunhill London Mixture (Murray's issue) as well. Fortunately, Steve Books, the Master Blender at Rich's Cigar in Portland, Oregon has blended it. I have smoked these blends back to back and cannot tell the difference, except for the changes that age brings.

    hey fred...meer cleaning..

Sailorman Jack used to get his Beeswax at fabric stores, as quilters use them to strengthen their thread. Lately, I've been using a refined Beeswax that was made without using bleaching agents, that I found on e-bay, as a cosmetic grade. The more refined Beeswax melts readily, so I can rub...

This is an unsmoked Estate Andreas Bauer Bulldog Facet, likely carved by Sedat Koncak in the early '90's. Currently, new Andreas Bauer Pipes are being made under the authority of Otto + Kopp, and appear to be commissioned thru IMP. Sometimes, I get lucky, as the last minute bidding was...
