    No Love for a Pipe

It's a no win situation, the ones that think you are crazy for smoking a pipe would REALLY think you where crazy for buying a $300 pipe! Glad you got it back and glad you had a great day with the kids! This world needs more good dad's.

    Some questions from a newbie

I love my Dr. Grabow's and my Lark is a favorite. Carter Hill is a blend you can find about anywhere and it is a favorite by lots of folks, including me. I use the butt of my pocket knife for a tamper, I find a golf tee works good too. Do yourself a favor and get a cheap lighter, you will...

    Made My Second Pipe!

Dude that's a nice piece of work regardless of how many you have made. Keep it up. Somehow it reminds me that mushroom season will start in these parts very soon. Its funny how some people "operate", you show your second homemade pipe and get a warning about going pro. I thought your...

Something every pipe smoker knows, but (probably) never thinks about

If I was rich I might give up pipe smoking all together! Wouldn't want to die before I spent all my money...

    Forum change?

BINGO! I must have had something sitting on the control key yesterday. I have a big stack of papers I have been working on. Thanks guys, I was about to give the place up. Wonder it only happened here...

    Forum change?

Did something change with the forum yesterday? In the morning everything was fine, then something changed. Everything is small and very hard to read? I visit several other forums and nothing is different with them?

So What Constitutes a Good Pipe?

I have read countless of these threads, I may have even started one once. I love to read what people think are important even when I am to naive to see the point. But it helps keep the hobby alive and well. I am just to practical for most of it, I even have a hard time calling it a "hobby" at...

Why are the Originals Always Better?

One of the key characteristics of legend is time. Taste is so subjective there is now way to quantify what is/was "better". Its in the mind of the "beholder". To prove this just look at some of the reviews of the current product offerings. (of anything) One will give it a half star and just as...

    It's Been a Rough Week

Hope you don't mind, I just said a prayer for you. This too shall pass.

    Zippo

Vasoline is your best zippo friend. Take out the insert liberally coat the insert with vasoline, slide it back into the case, wipe the excess into the cracks to seal off the gaps. I did this trick and my pipe zippo is on its inaugural fueling for 2 months now. I have heard this before, but I am...

    Shaintiques Pipe Collection (Pics)

Here in lays the problem I have with this site. Some well meaning guy posts a picture of his fabulous collection then I see some pipe I didn't even know existed, then I think I got to have one. And I get the feeling my life will not be complete until I do. Now I even have to start looking...

I changed my avatar, but its still the old one.

I have found this site works different than any other I have ever been a part of. Picture posting reminds me of the days of black and white TV... Let us know how it works out.

    How many of us?

I would be interested to know what country has the highest % of pipe smokers. We will never know the true numbers, but that would be a relative figure that might be worth while?

    Show Off Your Canadians Here!

I didn't know until this thread that there was such a classification. Where can a man read up on all the different pipe shapes and classifications?

    I Received Bad News Today

Sometimes the doctor really does know best, I just prayed for you and your family.

    Corn Cob and tobacco

You can smoke anything in a cob. You can get an MM hardwood for about the same amount, they are great too. My dad always went from cig. to pipe during our tight times when I was a kid. There where more than a few. The pipe saved him a lot of money better spent on family needs.

    Family Member That Smoked

Grandfather, uncle and dad. My father passed in 1990 and I was given his pipe collection (five and a jar/rack). At the time both my younger brothers smocked, but I didn't, the set should have went to them. It kind of got boxed up and put away, until about a year ago. Restoring his set-up is...

A New Blend ... I call it Pot Luck

I am cheap myself, we would really get along. The closest I get to throwing a blend away is gifting it to my BIL. :-) I have a pouch that I carry at times, and it contains whatever I dump in there. When it gets about half, I fill it back up with whatever I am enjoying at the time. I get a...

    Nosewarmers and Cobs

I love my Ozark Hardwood and my MM legend's. I like the legend so well that I am thinking about a Diplomat. But you can't beat the legend for how well it smokes at such a cheap price. I just run my pocket knife around the inside of my new Ozark's to knock the over spray finish off.
