    Wisdom Teeth Romoval

I had a jaw tooth extracted last year, and I didn't smoke or drink for quite awhile to allow it to heal. You are better safe than sorry - smoke and suction are nothing but irritants... You shouldn't smoke with sores in your mouth unless you want to make things worse. Luckily, however, I was born...

Question about buying tobacco in bulk

As that link will tell you, by opening the original tin you disrupt the maturation process at a cellular level... Some things can't be replicated, so you can't restore the original conditions in your new jar. At best, it'll have to start all over again; at worst, the aged tobacco will start to...

    Addicted...

I should clarify that I'm frequently thinking about pipes and tobacco, but moreso I try to discourage myself when I am constantly thinking "I should have a smoke" and find myself reaching for it more often that usual... With that said, I usually carry on until I find my tastebuds are getting a...

Are there any good VAPERS & VA blends that do not need aging to be enjoyed?

steelman, I wouldn't say that a va/per needs aging to be truly enjoyed - as far as I'm concerned they are a completely different tobacco with age. The perique settles into the background as the Virginias get richer and sweeter. If you prefer a spicier, perique-driven smoke then aging is actually...

    Dr. Grabow Omega Smooth

Thanks everyone. I spent more money than I wanted to, but that's eBay for you... It's true that I could've bought a new Savinelli but I wanted to have some decent workaday briars that were good smokers, broken in, and already reamed/cleaned/sanitized... I want a bit of practice with pipe...

    Addicted...

I usually only smoke once per day, but I find that it easily becomes habitual and I start to smoke two or three times... I generally give it up for a few days at that point, because I notice myself thinking about it. I'm eager to avoid becoming dependent on the pipe, so taking a break every so...

    Fall Harvest Under Way

I'm glad you've finally got some rain... Hopefully those cattle turn up!

    Salt & alcohol treatment, really?

I'm no expert but using a bristle pipe cleaner in the shank doesn't seem like it will rectify your overuse situation... Using a briar that often may be your biggest problem... I'll defer to greater authorities than myself for advice on your salt/alcohol solution. It is very common in the online...

Help me learn the tobacco types

Cortez, thank you for providing the link to that FAQ - I just reread it last night and it is incredibly valuable.

    Dr. Grabow Omega Smooth

I should mention in this thread that I've gone the estate route; a new Omega Smooth will be on the backburner, indefinitely. I picked up a couple of straight pipes: Grabow Viscount (unfiltered), Frank Medico, and a Grabow Grand Duke (apple shape)... They are in the mail as we speak - I hope they...

    Need some help

It's probably illegal for tobacconists within NZ to ship to you, if you can't find any information. That's the case in Canada, so you may be out of luck...

    I'm getting a beer fridge

Not only that it'll probably take on the smells of whatever is in the fridge... Onion or garlic blend, anyone? Tobacco will last for ages if it is stored properly at room temperature so there's no need for special set ups like refrigeration. As has been noted, it'll do far more harm than good.

Dedicated on ONE brand or blend

I share your preferences, except it's taken me longer to discover as much! I enjoy perique quite a bit, though, as a counterpoint to my Virginias but I appreciate a nice and sweet one, all the same.

    Odyssey vs Ten Russians?

Will do. It will only be my second Pease latakia blend. Westminster was nice, as I said, but I soon got acclimated to its level of smokiness and I was left craving more... I was fairly timid with my early orders, I was all about trying balanced English blends but that was before I realized what...

    IQ and then Some

Enjoy it! Public smoking has been banned here for a decade or more. 1Q sounds like the friendliest pipe smoke to those around you... Though I've never had it I know the Captain gets a lot of compliments.

    IQ and then Some

I'm still drawn to RLP-6, 1Q's underachieving brother... Captain Black White was my first tobacco so I'm quite curious.

McClelland Tin similar to 5100 (Side question on aging)

Hey all, I smoked some 5100 with almost two years age on it the other night and it was really nice. Very sweet and satisfying. I was just wondering if there is a tinned McClellands blend that is something like the 5100. I wouldn't mind buying a few and putting them aside. (Preferably one of the...

Advice on my next TAD Order

I haven't had them but aren't the Frog Morton blends fairly mild? That leads me to believe you'd enjoy a stronger latakia flavour than they offer. Especially since you can't walk to a B&M to get them, that makes it a bigger decision... I haven't had it yet but GLP Odyssey is next on my wishlist...

Dedicated on ONE brand or blend

If I had easy access to a variety of blends I'd always sample this and that to some degree, but I guess I'm trying to plan ahead for the scenario where I'm faced with a dearth of options. It's then that I'd want to be well supplied with my favourites rather than "flavour of the month" type...
