The biggest question I have is what do they already have in stock? You mentioned an expansion of their pipe tobacco... Maybe they just carry OTC brands or something? It sounds like the nicotine levels are too high for you, despite the fact that you have eaten. I have not had that tobacco, however, Tobacco Reviews lists it as "Mild" in nicotine. Everyone's personal body chemistry is different so you may be a rare individual that is affected by this blend...- sparroa

Lawrence, I see what you are saying regarding latakia as an aromatic tobacco but I think the popular definition at least puts those blends in a league of their own. I'd say that you will find that most aromatics are sweet, particularly those popular bulks we all know about, but there are probably many exceptions of a heavily cased/topped blend where sweetness is offset by the other ingredients. I am not much of an aromatic smoker so I'm not full of examples...- sparroa

Solani's Aged Burley Flake
Handling loose cut tobacco is generally much more familiar to most people - I found it simpler to just go that route from the start. If someone grew up in the UK and all they ever smoked was flakes, I'd understand their different POV! You'll find varied burning rates and some say varied flavours...- sparroa

Mick, I'd say most of your problems with this and other blends are moisture related. Straight out of the tin most tobaccos will be quite moist, but some are worse than others. If you really have no luck, rub some out and leave it until it is obviously dry and try again. This could take hours and...- sparroa

That's the way I look at it, ruraldean... I have smoked my pipe 5 times in a day and it is nowhere near as good as that one bowl that hits the sweet spot in the early morning or late at night... I certainly find diminishing returns when I make it a frequent habit. I'll agree that pipe smoking...- sparroa
