Every time I think I find 'the one,' I buy 8 oz of it, and then move to something else. It's going to be fun to go through everything again at a later date (that's about 4 blends now) but I'm kind of irritating myself by doing it. My next 2 'the one' tobaccos are C&D 3 Friars and H&H Anni Kake. I don't think I'll just put those away but now I'm afraid to pull the trigger on big bulk buys. I have been consistently buying Escudo and Pete Irish Flake and I still smoke those blends consistently so maybe I've turned a corner in my experimentation? I guess I will see.

If I had easy access to a variety of blends I'd always sample this and that to some degree, but I guess I'm trying to plan ahead for the scenario where I'm faced with a dearth of options. It's then that I'd want to be well supplied with my favourites rather than "flavour of the month" type blends.
The only thing I find about sampling a lot of tobaccos is that I have way too much open at one time, and their freshness is probably suffering even though I have them sealed up in jars. Rehydrating them is fine, but there is probably some flavour that is lost during that process.

Been on Virginias almost exclusively for the past 4 years. Love to try as many of them as I can but always go back to McC 5100, even after flirting with a blend for a few months. I'll occasionally try some Englishes or rarely an aromatic but typically stick to VA's.

I share your preferences, except it's taken me longer to discover as much! I enjoy perique quite a bit, though, as a counterpoint to my Virginias but I appreciate a nice and sweet one, all the same.

I keep puffin Rattrays 3 Noggins every day and have for a long time . But I also like to try other blends because I would hate to miss out on something good . There are so many good blends out there to try . I often wonder if what people post is a treat blend and not what they call thier mainstay .

i can and have smoked one brand all day every day--i could begin the practice again tomorrow if need be--

the seeking after an elusive blend seems to cause me to enjoy my pipe less--
today i have about 4 blends that i do rotate sometime--i am stashing them in moderate quantity--i think the stash rate is about to go up--talk is, e-tailers are going to add texas tobacco tax to their prices(for texas residents)--that will effectively double the price--when i have sufficient quantity cached, it will be my monotonous four (basically the same genre)all day every day--

I try absolutely everything, have not bought the same tobacco twice thus far. It is incredibly expensive with little choice to buy here so have not tried the common Borkum Riff/Captain Black. It is easier to order it all from the US 2 or 3 tins at a time and loving the variety. Favourites so far are Haddos Delight and Mississipi Mud and will probably order more of those in the future. Going to try the Macbarens scottish mixture next as it is a great price for 100grams.
