Westminster: Should I Open and Split up a 16 oz Tin?
Generally speaking, if you don't need to smoke it now, and you are interested in aging it, leave it alone in the tin! I never open a tin until I want to smoke it and then I do put it all into Mason Jars, simply with the lid screwed on tightly. Below, Craig Tarler and I are preparing samples...- captainbob

Blend versus Mixture?
herbinedave, Actually, being VA based, I swear there is no bite at all. There is just enough large Burley flakes to smooth it out. In addition there is Brown and Black Cavendish which is extremely smooth and mellow. Beyond that, there is a Red Virginia Cavendish flavored with Maple as 1/6th...- captainbob

Blend versus Mixture?
Ok, so I have created, with the help of Craig Tarler of Cornell and Diehl, Captain Bob's Blend. Then we created Captain Bob's Ship's Mate Blend. Finally, I personally created a "Mixture". A Mixture is a combination of finished "Blends". Totally different from any of the two created "Blends"...- captainbob

I have the plane ready for me Saturday or Sunday to fly into KDPA (DuPage County Airport). Pheasant Run is on the North parameter of the Field. As usual, I will fly in just for the day and then return home. Which day? Well, that depends upon the weather. It is always a wait and see...- captainbob

Chicago Pipe Show 2012 Updates
I will only be in Chicago if I have "good flying weather" Saturday or Sunday. Right now, both days are looking favorable, but it is too soon to make any decision. How many bowls does it take?
In my opinion, it really depends upon your experience of smoking the pipe and really knowing pipe tobacco. Some can review after one bowl. Others, take two or three bowls. It is really all a matter of experience in my opinion...- captainbob

Brand new and looking for help!
I certainly can agree with "terry" as I have Milan's Triple Crown, Milan's Wall Street and Milan's Buddies Blend in my rotation amongst my favorite C&D blends (including my own). Smoke variety and that way you will not tire your taste buds. Consider dedicating pipes to "similar-tasting" blends...- captainbob
