    Pipe Length

I have many pipes and there is no real comparison in lengths. I have them from very short to a few churchwardens.

    My package arrived

Good when a care package arrives I'm sure. Both those blends are good and I'm sure you can hardly wait to tear into them. "Enjoy"

What Do You Use to Transport?

Just wondering what everyone else uses to transport either their pipes or tobacco, or both. I've always wanted a nice handmade pipe bag, but can't really afford one. I do have several of the single combo pipe/tobacco pouches, but they can be cumbersome when you have several. So last year when I...

    Pipe mud

Glad that it worked out well for you. Nice to be able to fix a pipe that looked unsaveable.

    One of pipes I made

What I do for stems is use delrin as the tenon. I face the pre-formed tenon off flat till the stem is the length that I want. I then drill out the mortise for the delrin tenon and epoxy it in. I use a good forstner bit to face the stem before adding the tenon.

a good reason to turn back the clock

A lot of the older smokers smoked OTC blends and that may be what your looking for. Such blends as Prince Albert, Walnut and others. Many of these are still available and many even in grocery stores.

    Pipe mud

I learned that trick among many others on forums just like this one. These forums are wonderful tools for such things.

    One of pipes I made

While making pipes can be very satisfying, especially when you get to smoke one of your own pipes, shaping by eye can be at the least, a hard venture. Getting everything even using that method takes a lot of practice and even then can be difficult for a new guy. Keep up the great work and I'll...

a good reason to turn back the clock

Maybe not as much of a variety, but many great blends that are no longer and will never be produced again.

    Unsmoked Preben Holm,Stanwell Zebrano

The Preben alone is worth more than you paid. Wile I've seen and had some very nice Preben's that has to be one of the best looking ones I've seen and it's a real beauty.......... You can't beat a Stanwell and you can now consider it a pretty much freeby pipe. Congratulations on two very fine...

    Pipe mud

I've not used the pipe mud method myself. But many claim it's a winner. The way that I repair interior cracks as well as burnt spots and low drilling is with powdered grout mix. Just clean the area as well as you can and then mix up a little of the mix with water to a paste. I then apply it as...

    Bulldog or Rhodesian?

Yep, this question has been pondered and argued over and over. To my thinking the round shank is a Rhodesian and the square or diamond shank is a Bulldog.

    Pipes and Air Travel

One other thing, they will let you take a lighter as long as it isn't a torch lighter, but you have to put it in a bin so that they can inspect it. Can't carry on pipe tools that have a blade either but you can check those.

    Nording vs Generic Briar Block

Your carving skills won't have much at all to do with the smoking Characteristics of the pipe you make. I don't know much about blocks from either. If it's your first attempt at making a pipe, I'd go with what saves you some money. You can always go with better blocks later if you enjoy doing...

    Pipes and Air Travel

Not only can you carry the pipe, no problem. You can take the lighter (Long as it isn't a torch) and the pipe nail on the plane too. I carry my pipes, tobacco and tools with me whenever I fly and have never even had my carry on bag opened, and I fly quite often.

    shaved into air hole

I think he was making a pipe and sanded/cut into the airway. Got a bit close while shaping. I've done it, really sucks too. I was able to repair mine enough so that I could keep the pipe and smoke it. Good luck to you on repairing it.
