    Photos of Your Local B&M.

    Best Drug Store Tobacco?

Prince Albert or Sir Walter and if you are lucky, Sail Regular. If you have a sweet tooth, then by all means Captain Black. Drug stores around here still stock these but now they hide them like a dirty secret behind the counter next to the cheap cigars and RYO pouches. Back in the day, the...

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Monsoon season in the desert! Now it's not only hot, it's humid! Orlik Slices in the pipe. Ice water on the side. :puffy:

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

    Patriot Flake, naturally.

    Sail (Yellow) in a billiard.

    sutliff

Hit and miss with Sutliff so far. No.5 is quite good - it's no 965 but admirable in it's own right. Great Outdoors is OK - again it's no Field & Stream. Bachannalia has a unique wine grape note which I find pleasant in limited doses. French Quarter is pebbly junk.

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Sail Regular (Yellow) in the R&L pinecone billiard. I am really liking this blend. I picked up a pouch from the local Albertson's supermarket. There was no price in the scanner so the clerk scanned a Tops RYO pack instead. Got it for 4 bucks. It was a little crispy so I gently rehydrated it...

Cross Overs - Love 'em or Hate 'em - They ain't goin away! Unique Tobacco Blend

C&D Cross-Eyed Cricket has to be the godfather of crossover blends. Truly polarizing, you'll either love it or hate it. "Rum Punch" cavendish and latakia? You bet your sweet pattootie! I like this in the summer when the cicadas start buzzing and the monsoon season pokes lightning fingers up...

June 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Sutliff French Quarter in the MM Hardwood Pipe. I really wanted to like this tobacco but the rough cube cut both looks and tastes like gravel. The MM Hardwood pipe is proving to be a disappointment as well. The bowl gets too damn hot not matter how I pack it. The last pipe I had that burned...

June 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Keeping it simple on the hot desert porch tonight. Middleton's Cherry Blend in a Grabow and water.

June 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Still working on this old tin of Erinmore Flake from the shoebox. It's nice to completely forget about a tobacco for years, then come back to it and it's better than how I remembered it.

New Pipe - End to Summer PAD

Nice pipe! Lot's of birdseye's in that grain.

June 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

The remains of an old Erinmore Flake tin I found while rummaging through a shoe box. The stay in the shoebox vastly improved this 'baccy. :puffy:

June 2011 - What are you Smoking?

After the smoking hot 110F air in the desert today, I am now smoking some Dunhill London Mixture in a Savinelli straight, rustic billiard.

    Going to Iwan Ries

Dr. Bradley Mixture, Gourmet English and for something really different, grab a pouch of Kings Oriental. :-)

June 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Happy Summer! She's not screwing around out here in the desert! 96F after 8 p.m. and not a breath of wind for relief. Orlik Slices in the Racine & Laramie rustic billiard. Iced tea on the side.

Sir Walter Raleigh Regular - Pipe Tobacco Review

I like Sir Walter! Good, honest burley and not much else. Walter, his pal Prince Albert and I have spent many an enjoyable evening sitting on the Velvet lounge chairs and smoking our pipes over at Carter Hall. :puffy:
