May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

Good Morning! SWR and coffee in the mug. Why SWR? Because I keep seeing it pop up on this smoking thread! :D I was compelled to go down to the Paiute Tribal Smokeshop and grab a pouch of this old time weed. I must confess, I like it.

    Tobacconists in Las Vegas

Well Vegas is pretty much a cigar town these days, hence the big CIGAR signs all over the place. Tobacco Leaf and apparently Tobacco Town have not forgotten the pipe smoker. Way in the way back there used to be a place in the old Maryland Square (gone) across from the Boulevard Mall called Ed's...

    Tobacconists in Las Vegas

Yes. Tobacco Leaf is in the same plaza as Panera Bread. Even better, In-n-Out Burger is across the street!

    Tobacconists in Las Vegas

Davidoff - meh. Best I have found in Vegas is Tobacco Leaf on W. Lake Mead Blvd ( just off the 95 - corner of Rock Springs and Lake Mead). Full Dunhill Tins range, McClelland tins and bulk, Peterson, Balkan Sasieni, Stokkebye bulk flakes - pretty much the full monty over there. Awesome humidor...

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

Good Morning! Louisiana Red from pipesandcigars.com in the pipe and fresh coffee in the mug. The heat is breaking over the desert southwest. Storms are on the way.

Felt like I should have been smoking in the closet

I was at my favorite little local brewpub the other night. Lot's of cigs and one or two cigars around. I lit up a pipe full of Virginia flake to go with my Hefeweizen. Several attractive women decided to move over to my side of the bar. I'm just sayin'... :-)

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

Rum & Maple in a cob. Fresh coffee in the mug. Gonna be a hot one today in Vegas. Mid 90's.

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

I think I'm going to stick with this re-hydrated Flying Dutchman till it's gone. I'm really liking it. If it's packed tight and sipped slowly, there is little bite, a sweet cookie flavor and an beautiful room note. Reminds me a bit of Troost. Too bad this one is hard to find anymore.

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

Rummaging about, I found an old pouch of the dreaded Flying Dutchman! This is also known as FRY-ing Dutchman. I have re-hydrated it a bit to a smoke-able condition and it's going in the pipe tonight. Pray for me.

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

Amphora Red in a big bent rustic Racine & Laramie Pipe. The hot weather is coming on out here in the desert.

    Mosquito Repellant

A VaPer perhaps? Or just slather some Grapefruit Juice on yourself. http://www.npr.org/2011/04/18/135468567/repelling-bugs-with-the-essence-of-grapefruit

April 2011 - What are you smoking? II

Murray's Dunhill Light Flake in a little Calabris with a mug of fresh coffee. Mmmmm.

    Clove Tobacco

Yes, Iwan Ries King's Oriental. This is my Christmas blend. Very heavy clove note. The room aroma is rich and the smoke flavor is unique. It seems to have been slammed pretty hard on tobaccoreviews.com but I think so mostly because Iwan Ries classifies this as an English Blend whereas it is...

    The Barbershop

When I was a kid back East, my uncle was a barber and he always cut our hair in his little plaza shop. When my family moved to Vegas, it was Supercuts for decades. Finally about a year ago, after another in a series of bad haircuts, I said "screw this" and went on a search for a legitimate old...

April 2011 - What are you smoking? II

Dutch Masters Whiskey Cavendish in a gigantic Freehand Cob. This tobacco smokes great! And it was a freebie! Cool and mild and the aroma is wonderfully old fashioned and "pipey". It goes perfect with the sunny spring day here in Vegas.

PS Black & Burley (B-B) in the biggest "basket" pipe I own. This thing looks like a craggy, black Castello 2nd. Love this pipe!
