Use It up or Put It on the Shelf?

I open as many as I have jars for. My new favorite tobacco might be inside one of those tins.

Apple's War and Cigars (and All Tobacco Products)

I don't see the problem with this. Apple isn't immune from public opinion and currently that opinion is tobacco in any form or amount is bad. I think they probably have this policy to reduce liability too. I don't like it because I am a smoker but can't fault the company.

How Many Pipes Do You Try Before Giving up on a Brand

There is my problem. You put it better than I did I guess. It seems to only be Petersons that I have this hangup with :-)

How Many Pipes Do You Try Before Giving up on a Brand

Interesting. I can get with that. Have you ever smoked on any of them for awhile and realized you don't care as much for them now as you did then? The only time I will buy a pipe online is if my brick and mortar doesn't carry it. The Savinelli Menta I am looking for is a good example. My...

How Many Pipes Do You Try Before Giving up on a Brand

It is a bit of both. The small bowl's form suits me fine but I have problems with the function. The Dracula is form. I like the overall shape and how it smokes but the groove below the bowl bothers me as well as the red stem and black finish. I apparently can't choose a Peterson that keeps...

How Many Pipes Do You Try Before Giving up on a Brand

I love the few Savinellis I have. The authors in particular. I am actually looking for a smooth Menta 321 with just the right amount green swirls in the stem right now. Saw one on smokingpipes but someone got it already. Funny you mention that too. I actually deleted the part in the OP about...

    Thoughts

How true! I have only been smoking a pipe for about a year now and started out with strong Cherry or Vanilla blends. A year in I can't even look at 'em anymore. I have found I like my aromatics way more subtle now. I am actually glad I didn't buy any of those early tobaccos in anything...

How Many Pipes Do You Try Before Giving up on a Brand

So I am looking for a new Peterson. I have two already: Dracula Bulldog and Sherlock Holmes. The Dracula was the second pipe I purchased and thought it looked cool in the store at the time. The more I use it, the less I like it. The red stem just isn't as neat looking as it was the first time...

Lighters I Like, What Are Yours?

I use my new brown 4th Generation pipe lighter primarily. My backup is a Zippo Peterson Sherlock Holmes lighter with the pipe insert. After that I am down to a box of Swan Vesta matches. All of them work quite well. I have 3 or 4 Xikars that always broke after a month or 2. I know I can send...

    Jim's Revised D&R Blends Reviews.

I mix Ramback Gold and Vengeur Platinum for my cigarettes. I would think they are a bit "light" for the pipe though. I am looking to change up my blend so thanks for the reviews. Indian River seems to carry a lot of these tobaccos.

    Marge Treff, USA

Had a quick glance on a few sites. That sounds like something I might enjoy. Would you recommend the La Brumeuse or Reserve du Patron to start? I also like the description of the Le Petit Robin. Will probably end up getting all three to try since I am still developing my palate and will have...

Thank you for that link. A lot more informative than what I was previously using.

New Pipes Arrived In Time For Vacation!

My thoughts exactly. Have fun on the vacation.

    Marge Treff, USA

Marge Treff is a nice local lady that stayed in Italy with Roberto Ascorti for a month designing and creating a series of pipes for The Briar And Burley. There is an article about her and the experience in the Spring issue of Pipes And Tobaccos Magazine. I didn't plan on getting this tonight...

    Empty Tins

You never put old license plates, signs, etc. up in your barn or garage or whatnot? Not like I would be using 8 inch lag bolts or anything and the inside is pretty drab looking. I'd rather be looking at the art on the tops than dirty mdf and 2x4s. It is all for naught anyhow as I have found...

    Empty Tins

What about the boxes your pipes come in? I guess they are serving a useful function at the moment keeping the sleeves (do people actually use those?) and other knick-knacks they come with separated. Given that I recently bought two pipes I didn't necessarily need, eventually those boxes will...

A Picture of My New 'Office'

Looks enjoyable. Those two pieces against the wall are nice too.

    Empty Tins

I really like the idea of putting them under the glass top of a coffee table. Also nailing the tops to the inside walls of the garden shed.
