Apple is probably looking out for his son, Cider. Sometimes you get a pass when you have friends in high places.

Like many of you, I use my iPhone every day. But right now I want to throw it in the garbage.
"I want to throw it in the garbage". You know, throughout the many years I've learned to predict the quality of an article from the first sentence. And we all know that he is not going to throw it in the garbage.
Since I dropped my iPad in the pool while cleaning it
Were you cleaning the iPad or the pool? Were you cleaning the pool while holding an iPad? Why?

I don't see the problem with this. Apple isn't immune from public opinion and currently that opinion is tobacco in any form or amount is bad. I think they probably have this policy to reduce liability too. I don't like it because I am a smoker but can't fault the company.

I love all of my Apple products (iPhone, iPad, and iMac), and my Apple stock.
However, the stupidest part of this is how arbitrary the decisions is.
I just found a bunch of apps where you can actually buy cigars, including Cigars International.

Yep...along with most everything else. Every time someone shops at China Mart WalMart they're benefitting from slave labor.

Actually it's a handful of entities such as Apple who are shaping public opinion. But I would agree that the unconscious public is ultimately to blame for that...they choose to be that way.

Yup! And those "slaves" you refer to are most likely enjoying a real paycheck and an elevated standard of living. The very idea that we Americans should be dictating work place conditions to other countries is laughable. Some of these countries still treat, as they have for centuries, workers as serfs, slaves, and/or chattel.
Our companies are in the business of business not, regime changing and nation building. Positive changes will be incremental, over time and not instantaneous, if they occur at all. It won't be dictated by us, can't be dictated by us. American labor unions will just have to suck it up and realize that different peoples do it differently. These third world countries, even if they own a bunch of nukes, have the labor and we need it.
Robots will bring back some of the work we have sent oversees as the American worker has been priced too high. It's simply a fact of life. Good? Bad? If you are an American out of work, it's a bad situation. If you want an affordable "smart phone"? You'll be buying one made in a "third world" country, possibly in the future, assembled in America by robots.

Nah, there are other solutions but the corporate media labels them as "protectionism" "isolationism" etc. Same ol' rhetoric.

No, it's labeled profit. Profit is a good thing if one is a shareholder. I'll pay for quality and a lot of it now comes from "third world" countries.
I for one will not pay a higher price simply for a "made in the USA" label. I won't pay a higher price to support a higher wage . I want quality and value. Not a thing wrong with "protectionism" for certain products and minerals. I just don't like it for "wage protection" and the like.
I do draw the line at making weapons off shore. All such should be mined and manufactured, as much as possible, "in country" so as to insure unbroken supply should today's allies become tomorrow's enemies.

Warren, I have no time to elaborate further on any of this because I've got to earn those federal reserve notes. But I just wanted to say, if I ever find myself in

agreement with you on anything I'll be sure to mark that day on my calender.
In the meantime, have a Merry Christmas!
@jpmcwjr: yeah, the copy function for the .jpg just won't work for me anymore for some reason.

We're just two people with different perspectives. I tend to see the world as it is. I wish to profit from it. You want to see some changes. I hope, should those changes be realized, to profit from that reality also. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying your position is wrong. It's just not one I have to deal with in my financial planning and spending.
And, to you and yours, a very Merry Christmas also.

Warren is right. No argument. Those people need work too. The cost of living is low for most of them, and they NEED work just like we do. I suppose we could just stop buying and they could all starve. Or eat phones or something. Sigh...
I love my iPad.

That company is a pathological ripoff:

Would not one figure older batteries to not be as efficient as new ones? That's how it works in my camera bodies anyway. Older batteries take longer to charge, do not hold a charge as long and seemingly hold peak power for less time.
I do not, as a rule, use Apple desk or laptop computers. I will say the various pads, pods and phones used over the years have not disappointed as yet.

Apple has admitted that they engineered their software to drain older batteries, and are selling upgrades for $29.
