Marge Treff is a nice local lady that stayed in Italy with Roberto Ascorti for a month designing and creating a series of pipes for The Briar And Burley. There is an article about her and the experience in the Spring issue of Pipes And Tobaccos Magazine.
I didn't plan on getting this tonight and actually had my eye on a different one. Unfortunately, the pipe I wanted had already been sold and there weren't many left. I decided to pull the trigger while I still could. I ended up with this. Great smoker that feels small, light and fits in my hand perfectly with a nice deep bowl.
Would this be considered a freehand? Haven't been smoking a pipe long enough to know all the shapes.
Sorry about my ashy mousepad. :)

Yes, I would call that a freehand. It has a an organic poker feel to it, or like a tree branch section. I like it.

Zackery:
I'd call it more of a chimney/poker hybrid.
Here's a very basic shape chart: http://thepipeguys.com/smoking-pipe-shapes-guide/
However, whatever you want to call it doesn't matter a whit. It's a beautiful pipe and I hope you enjoy it immensely.

Thank you for that link. A lot more informative than what I was previously using.

I'd call it a stack sitter, but chimney works as well. To me, that looks like a perfect Tabac-Manil Semois smoker, if you like burley. It's dry leaf, but a great burley variant, and that pipe holds enough for a fine full-length smoke. Of course, it will work with many many blends.

Had a quick glance on a few sites. That sounds like something I might enjoy. Would you recommend the La Brumeuse or Reserve du Patron to start? I also like the description of the Le Petit Robin. Will probably end up getting all three to try since I am still developing my palate and will have to order online. Doubt my local B&M carries it.
