    Nausea

When I first started messing with high nic blends, I found that sipping sweetened OJ or sweet iced tea tended to keep me upright but even then, it sometimes got the better of me. Now, after quite a few years, like trailboss, I'm pretty much immune. Keep puffing and enjoying, it just gets better...

    Guns!

I have followed this thread with some interest and have read it through several times completely as it resurfaces occasionally. In Canada, it is far more difficult to qualify for gun ownership, less so for non-restricted guns (long guns like shotguns and rifles) and more so for restricted guns...

    De Luxe Navy Rolls

+1 jorgesoler I have yet to meet a Dunhill tobacco that I didn't like and some are my absolute favorites. It takes a while to get the hang of flakes (at least, it did for me) but I kept at it and it just seemed to come together one day. I also recommend packing flakes less tight than loose...

Still smoking too hot after all this time - advice requested

Sorry, didn't type fast enough! :D

Still smoking too hot after all this time - advice requested

+1 freakie Its possible that the tobacco you are smoking is not right for your body chemistry. Other forum members report being unable to tolerate certain tobaccos, red virginia or perique being the two most often mentioned. If we knew what you were smoking, we might have a better handle on what...

    Ryan Alden Commission/ Remake

I have a number of pipes from Ryan now. Looks like he knocked one out of the park again. Way to go Ryan!

    Dunhill Early Morning Pipe

Weirdly enough, you might want to try EMP in the morning or at least, as the first smoke of the day. The first time I tried it, I was underwhelmed as well but over the years, it has become my weekend morning go-to. Maybe something about a fresh palate, I don't know. A big cup of good coffee, a...

    Can't get any better.

@ Orley and ravkesef After a short outing, I'm back in the smoking chair with some McC 5100 Red Cake and another scotch I picked up yesterday on a whim, Bowmore 15, an Islay finished in sherry casks. Seaweed/briny/smokey taste quite muted but some Islay medicinal character comes through in the...

    Can't get any better.

@minfarshaw I'm sitting in my study/smoking room/library with a big bowl of AJ's VaPer going, a wee dram of the MaCallan 12 and some Mozart on the stereo but I feel exactly the same way. Life IS good. Enjoy.

    Slicing GLP Gaslight

I have been acquiring a fair number of different plugs and kakes lately and have recently purchased an antique plug tobacco slicer on EBay. I am a self-confessed gadget geek and I had fun disassembling, cleaning it and sharpening its blade. So far, I find it works very well for both plugs and...

    Christmas Cheer 2013

Excellent review! I had just finished the final char/tamp light of a bowl of Christmas Cheer 2012 in a group 4 Trypis billiard and was perusing the forum topics when I came across your review, Greg. Many of the things you say about the 2013 are a dead ringer for the 2012 and as I continue to sip...

    Greetings and an introduction

Welcome from Canada! Rookie or seasoned pipe smoker, there's knowledge aplenty to be gleaned from this forum.

Anni are you okay? Anni are you ok? Are you ok Annie?

Minfarshaw, a tobacco I quite like with a really nice plummy tin note and "sweet" (non aro) plummy flavor is 4Noggins Prairie Wind. It has a fair bit of perique, the virginias are very smooth, its inexpensive and Rich is a top notch guy. It does need some dry time however.

Canada - Where do you buy online?

Hey Peck! Are any of the beaver tailed stems with the MuskOx femur inlays still available? I'm kicking myself for not buying one.

    If You . . . . . .

Dunhill Flake (high end tobacco in a rustic pipe, it appeals to me) Loren (what can I say? I like Italian. I'd take Marianne over Ginger too) Boxers (more cover from sparks)

    What are your other hobbies?

Years ago I ruined my favorite hobby by turning pro as I am now the head brewer for a medium sized chain of breweries in my area and no longer homebrew. Now, besides collecting way too many pipes and tobaccos, I am a food geek, both cooking and eating, a single malt scotch collector and drinker...

Last Day with my Best Friend

My sympathies to you, cobguy. I know you'll miss your friend. I've been in your shoes twice in the last two years and sometimes I think the loss will never go away.

    Tobaccoreviews.com - What A Joke

This probably common knowledge but, I found that by "favoriting" certain reviewers like jiminks, rmbittner, rothNH and pipestud, if I leave TR in default mode those reviewers come up first and I can see what people I trust say about a certain blend before wading through the rest of the reviews...

    GQ Tobacco

As soon as I read about the high percentage of perique in Askwith Kake, I ordered some. We will see what 20% mixed with good Virginias tastes like. I know that it smells great but I have been too busy to try it. Today is the day! Peck, let us know what you think of it. I also ordered some OTC...
