What beers are you drinking with your pipe?

I generally don't drink with my smoke because I usually enjoy a good pipe during breaks at work. All around best beer with pipe tobacco has to be Guinness. Some pairings are perfect.

    Drug store favorites

Captain Black (white) is my standby emergency blend. I recently tried the "gold" blend and found it too peppery for my taste.

Anyone have experience with this Savinelli?

I have a Savinelli Pisa which is similar in shape to your Florence but has a gloss finish. This is one of four Savs I currently own. None came with the balsa filters and all are exceptional pipes. Like my friend said earlier: You can't go wrong with one of these Italian masterworks.

    Pipe Rotation...Be honest

I currently have 21 pipes entrusted to my care. I occasionally smoke the same one two days in a row out of sheer laziness, but generally clean yesterday's pipe thoroughly each morning and choose another based on bowl size vs. available smoking hours. Sometimes I choose one based on style. My...

Tomorrow I Find Out If I Still Have What It Takes

Good luck Cindi. Wherever your modeling career may lead, you will always be one of us.

    Pipes and Cigars?

I'm with juvat on this one. I love my pipes, but have never really enjoyed a cigar despite friends who have tried to convince me otherwise.

    How much do you smoke?

I consistently smoke about 2 bowls per day. That gives me an average consumption of about 2 oz. per week or a half pound each month.

    Is this Meerschaum or not?

Yup. It's a meer. Interesting that it appears to have a few years on it while the bowl would indicate it has never touched tobacco.

    My Favorite Smoke so far

Among my favorite things about the pipe is how the same tobacco can be only so-so on one day and a glorious experience on the next. Thanks for your observations on McClelland PM. I haven't yet had the pleasure, but will add a tin to my cellar at first opportunity.

    New Moderator - Mark (markw4mms)

Greetings from South Florida, Mark. Congratulations on the appointment and, rest assured, this old geezer will do all I can to make it a trouble-free ride.

    Probhibition

I honestly believe the best way to change attitudes about pipe smoking is to enjoy our favorite pipes outdoors where people can experience the wonderful aroma (and warm memories) that are so much part of the pipe. Greet all comers with a cheery "good morning" and prepare to hear their stories...

    Pipe Smoking Discrimination

The real world invades even the corridors of computer gaming. As your years as a pipe smoker continue, you will experience more biased research, more ungrounded comments and more downright stupidity than you ever thought possible. A professor of nursing from the local community college recently...

    Pipe Smoking Hero(es)

J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S.Lewis. Being an ordained minister (since 1978), I often encounter Christians who feel obliged to inform me that I shouldn't be enjoying my pipe so much. I then get to teach them about these two great Christian authors, their long lives and their love of the pipe.

How long do you usually hold the smoke in your mouth?

Marc has the right idea. Pipe smoking should become a natural part of your respiration process. Sip the smoke. Exhale through mouth or pass it through the sinus passages. If you're thinking about what you're doing, you're doing it wrong. Relax and just let it happen.

How Many Guitarists Do We Have Here?

I've been living with guitars since my next-door-neighbor introduced me to the art back in the mid '60's. The family currently consists of a Yamaha L series flat pickin' guitar that I bought new in 1985 and used, for many years, as a prison chaplain in Tennessee. Since then, I've added an...

    Favorite Firearm(s)

My all time favorite handgun is the Kahr K40, a beautiful weapon with excellent stopping power especially when loaded with .40 caliber S&W hollow points. Since I live in South Florida, hold a carry license and generally dress for the heat, I find my Sig Sauer P238 .380 to be a very reasonable...

    Honked off Mrs

My wife remains opposed to all things tobacco. To avoid conflict, I always maintain a small stash of money squirreled away in a wooden cigar box. All pipe related purchases are strictly cash and carry. This suggestion doesn't help solve your current crisis, but it may prevent future conflicts.

    What is your favorite lighter

I have two lighters that are worthy of mention. The Im Corona is my favorite. It was a gift from an old friend and has never failed me. This is my Sunday Lighter...all dressed up and fancy. For more casual situations, I have a Xikar Old Boy; A wonderfully designed lighter that will go two weeks...

    It's In The Paper

I'm in the same boat as clano. My wife remains convinced that the my pipe will be the death of me despite all evidence to the contrary. "I've already made my mind up. Stop confusing me with facts". Keep smokin', friend.

    My First Pipe!

Welcome to the fraternity, and to the best pipe community you'll find. My first was a Spainish no-name purchased 40 years ago while a student in Mallorca. I still smoke it, and it remains one of my favorites.
