There Are a Bunch of New Storient Meers!

I usually like plain looking Meers, but hot damn, I love that eagle claw one!

Lighting the end of the bowl

Also, don't empty the ash on top. Tamp it down a bit, but don't empty it. The flame will go through the ash. I also find a few fast and hard puffs, rather than a long slow draw, will get you there. Lastly, consider picking up some kitchen matches. They're the bigger longer matches and...

    MacBaren

I just popped open a tin of SG St. James Flake and it too smelled tomato-like. I think it's not just a brand-specific phenomenon.

EBAY: Lessons Learned and How Not to Get Burned

See, last night I bid on a pipe with zero bids and I bid with less than ten seconds left and in the end, someone else won the pipe by beating the person who beat me, so it went from zero bids to three bids in the final 8 or so seconds. o.O I tried two more and they too got sniped, so it got me...

    My MacArthur and Me

I'm not so much disappointed as surprised. I had thought MacArthurs were semi-popular.

Strange Looking pipe on eBay, Never Seen one before??

Whoever buys that pipe will certainly possess a one-of-a-kind . . . thankfully!

EBAY: Lessons Learned and How Not to Get Burned

This is sort of off-topic, but not exactly. I have never won a pipe on ebay because of sniping. Every (no exaggeration) auction I have tried to win has come down to a final 2-3 bids in the last 3 seconds. My question is, to you guys who ever actually WON an auction: is sniping the only way to...

    My MacArthur and Me

Here's hoping you get one, Jay, because that ones one of my best smokes so far! For the first time ever, I successfully used tamping instead of relighting to keep my pipe alight. Anyway, I'm surprised no one else has/uses a MacArthur around here. 8O

    Missouri Meerschaum Grab Bag

Just a note to you guys who just ordered a grab bag: if I were you, I would remove all the nasty little paper filters in each cob.

    I'm considering Balkan.

Nothing. He'll just say to see his signature.

    I'm considering Balkan.

I don't think it's popular, but I really love Robert McConnell Oriental. Its tin note is strong on latakia, but when you smoke it you realize how the latakia and other leaves are really in harmony.

    My MacArthur and Me

So I recently got a Missouri Meerschaum grab bag, and inside was a MacArthur. I laughed at its ridiculousness and thought I would never smoke it, but as I type this (clenching like a champ), I'm in the middle of my first bowl with it. The hardest part was to decide on a nice tobacco that I could...

    Payday PAD and TAD

There's something about a Peterson pipe that makes me drool. Could be the silver band or the grain, I'm not sure, but I just love the look.

    Your Thoughts on Brigham Pipes

8O Note to self: religiously check yard sales. I think I will start just asking people outright if they have any pipes in their yard sales. If I don't see any that doesn't mean they don't have any they're getting rid of.

    Your Thoughts on Brigham Pipes

A 3-Dot Brigham for $10!!! 8O Man, where are the flea markets around where I live?! :crying:

    G.L. Pease blends

All the hype over Odyssey made smoking it a bit of a let down. It's not a lat bomb or the best balkan I have ever had. It's decent, but I found it lacking latakia and lacking VAs/Orientals: allow me to explain. The latakia was very strong, but not as strong as (in my opinion) 3 Oaks Syrian...

    Your Thoughts on Brigham Pipes

schmitzbitz, thanks for that information about manufacturing. Wow, I am very disappointed to hear that they are now made in Italy. =( Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I have only 1 Brigham (with an aluminium tenon) and I think that any Brighams I acquire in future will be estates with...

    Outdoor smokers

I tell ya, I used to be an outside only smoker, worried about lasting room notes, but I only smoke a bowl (maybe two on the weekend) per day. My smokes were increasingly frustrating to keep lit. I started with just lighting up indoors and then moved on to just smoking indoors in a well...

    Windsor, ON/Detroit, MI

Not really, I haven't put much thought into it, to be honest. I just happened upon this thread. Seems like you/we would need to "advertise" with fliers posted around the tobacconists or on kijiji or something like that. Not really sure. Could always meet up some time at that one convenience...
