McCleland Bulk Tobacco
Does anybody know if "#5100 (Red Cake) English Virginia. Sweet, fully rubbed matured cake" is the same as McCranie's Red Ribbon 2000? I know McClelland tins Red Ribbon for McCranie's and have heard 5100 bulk is a cheaper version of the same tobac.- jimbo

How many bowls do you smoke in a day or a week?
I usually smoke 1 a day, in the evenings, while watching the tube or chatting in the online pipe chat channels. Occasionally, I'll smoke a quick cob in the afternoons or a small pipe while on an hour drive. I don't smoke at home when I have company... only because pipe time is private time for...- jimbo

$100 would buy TEN corncob pipes! :D I'm not suggesting that, but my first pipe was a Missouri Meerschaum cob and I don't regret it. I still smoke them because they are cool, dry, quick to break in and have an easy draw. You can buy a Peterson or Stanwell for around $70, and they are both good... -

Sardines and Pipe Smoking!

New Cob Addition to the Family...
What's the inside diameter of that new bowl? The model? I drilled out the bowls of several of my cobs ("spool", "egg") to a more normal diameter (that I can get my little finger down to the bottom). :-) -

You could do like Sherlock Holmes and dig out your dottle plugs and let them dry on the fireplace mantel before re-smoking them. 8O But I don't recommend that. Does the "dry system work"?
The Peterson System is one of my pet peeves. I've had 2 and I disliked smoking them. If you turn one upside down to dump ashes, you have to plug up the stem with a pipe cleaner and turn it stem down first, then dump the ashes. Why?
