December 2011 - What Are You Smoking?

@ soylentgreen: Thanks! I was gifted 4-oz of 1Q for my B-day and the plan is to brew some fresh coffee, load up a big pipeful and see what it is about this weed that claims so many ardent supporters. :puffy: It smells so good in the bag, I might just eat it and be done with it.

    Comoys Restoration

I got some nice estate Comoy's at the Vegas Pipe Show and I'm really enjoying them. They are very lightweight, as you mentioned. And they smoke like a dream. I will have my eye open for them. That's a great restoration, as well.

    For the Hard-Core Lovecraft Fan

I really like that R'lyeh pipe. The Cthulhu is a bit over-the-top for my taste but I have to give it props for detail and coloring. I don't think I would ever smoke it. I would just pull it out to scare trick-or-treaters on Halloween!

    For the Hard-Core Lovecraft Fan

I still think Trever Talbert gets the closest to the Lovecraft aesthetic in his pipe carvings. I submit this beauty for your examination. Talbert's 2010 Halloween Pipe:

December 2011 - What Are You Smoking?

Stopped by the B&M this morning to get myself an early birthday present TAD fix. I ended up with a tin of Royal Yacht, a tin of Irish Oak and 2-oz of PS Proper English. Proper English is now burning in the Savinelli and I find it quite nice on the sunny but cool desert back porch. :puffy:

Do You Have Any Christmas Traditions?

Another Italian here. We do a "7 Fishes" hybrid thing on Christmas Eve. Linguini with white clam sauce, spaghetti with red squid sauce, boiled shrimp, fried whiting, fried calamari, smelts. Open up the house to family and friends, red wine by the jug, Seagrams and ginger ale, baked cookies...

    Help With iPod Classic

Hold the case up to your ear and press play. Does it make a ticking noise as it tries to boot? If so, it's a hard drive failure. I've heard that giving it a good whack or dropping it can sometimes "unstick" the drive but if it's still under warranty, the Apple Store should service it for you...

December 2011 - What Are You Smoking?

I have filled the smallest bowl pipe I have (a Calabresi short stem churchwarden)with my last coin of Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls and I am sending it to tobacco heaven on this cool autumn evening. :puffy:

    New Member Introduction

Welcome, Clark. Pick up some Sherlock's Choice or Philosopher next time you are in The Tinderbox. Special Blend is pretty good too. Good intros to English style tobaccos.

November, 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Rum & Maple(Altadis No. 55) in the Pete Donegal Rocky on the sunny autumn back porch. :puffy: I tried to steer this Donegal into a being a good English smoker but it has resisted. Enough! Aromatic for you, you pesky pipe!
